What’s going on with Mr. Lincoln?

BarbercoinBarbercoin Posts: 1,013 ✭✭✭

The weight is 3.08g. The rim is rounded over and rough as it meets the coin surface. There’s a waxy feel as well which probably adds to the weight. I just haven’t seen anything like it.
So, please give me possible explanations as to the condition it’s in. PMD? Heavy grease in die???

I'm thinking one explanation, but the weight mentioned, 3.08, throws that out.
Can you make out a date and mm ?
The only thing close to the view, I want to say a deep dish pizza.
    Maybe I'm just hungry.
    Cool

It is an extreme dryer coin. Have seen this quite often.

Thanks Greenstang for your fast and pinpoint accurate answer. I had no clue, but after researching the term “dryer coin”, I totally understand what happened. Very interesting.

I haven’t figured out what the waxy sticky substance is on the surface of the coin. I tried bug and tar remover with no luck.

I copied the link for others. The article is comprehensive and loaded with great examples.
