Ever found coins like these while going through old rolls?

I bought this roll for basically melt probably - heck I don't know - two or three or four years ago by now, and never even bothered to look through it. I just happened to pop it open today, and to my surprise, the end coins are not just toned, but somehow toned on both sides. One side's a bit dull (I think the side facing the paper) while the other is rather somewhat brighter in both cases. Thoughts?

Yes, nickels. From same heavy cardboard type paper rolls.

Nope - Amazon "RECYCLABLE JUST LIKE A BOX" packaging lol. It happened to be sitting on my desk and served as padding when I spilled out those coins. I went ahead and pulled the two toned coins out just for fun and replaced them with a couple of spares.

Roll was not tightly sealed. Looks hand rolled and that would allow for air to circulate among the loose coins. Then add the sulfer in the paper and you have what you see. Machine rolled and crimped rolls do not allow for such to happen.

I have many unnatural toned coins, Silver & Clad. Too pretty to toss back or sell for melt!

Bob, very insightful - thank you. You are correct - the roll was actually quite loosely sealed and now that you mention it, that could explain a lot.
