"excellence is always in demand" - yea, a US women's basketball team beating up on 5' nothing, painfully slow players, from some small country with an unpronounceable name, that nobody can find on a map. 😆

    You literally said previously:

"The very last thing I intend to do on this planet, is watch the Olympics women's basketball."

By your own admission, you have not watched a minute of Women's Olympic Basketball, and yet feel compelled to comment on the state of the sport (again, not a shock given your posting history).

If you are unable to pronounce countries like 'Brazil', ' France' 'Spain', nor where to find them on a map, that says a lot more about YOU and your ignorance than it does the state of women's basketball.

    Keep going, though!

I don't recall ever watching an Olympic women's basketball game. That being said, i stated earlier that I would watch if Caitlin was on the team.

Perhaps not the entire game, but at least some of it. 😉

Hmm I wonder what is unique about Clark that makes you only want to watch if she was participating? Your inflammatory and race-baited language in the other thread tells me and everyone else what really is important to you.

I do not have time for ignorant trolls.

I wonder if you had this same take when the 1992 Men's Olympic Basketball team was actually doing this? Or do you save this 'insight' for women's sports?

I have watched some Olympic men's basketball, but not all that much. Mainly just the finals if I've got nothing better to do, and a team such as Russia is the opponent.

If the US women's basketball team is in the Olympic finals, I'll have anything better to do .😆

BTW - I do think that certain women's sports are highly entertaining and very watchable. Women's sports such as tennis, gymnastics, ice skating, volleyball, and some others are my favorites.

Four years from now, I'd like to see Caitlin snub the Olympic committee - that would be funny.

Would be even funnier if she did it to the WNBA as well. She is by far the driving force for their increases and those other rookies the vast majority of their popularity is because of a rivalry with her. Some Euro league could just throw big money at her and be the beneficiaries of her popularity.

Really is insane how poorly they are botching these once in a generation opportunities

Wisconsin 2-6 against the SEC since 2007

I haven't kept close tabs on it, but I think Caitlin received an endorsement deal, perhaps a number of deals, that dwarf her "meager" WNBA salary. Whether or not these deals require her to play in the WNBA or not, I do not know.

In any event, I highly doubt that Caitlin will have a long career in the WNBA. Certainly she won't need the money. She seems like a very well grounded, family oriented person, and I think she would like to have children and raise a nice family, rather than spend say a decade or more in the WNBA.

Clarke makes under 80k in the WNBA, she has deals for over 30 million total in endorsements. There may be some clauses to stay in the WNBA, but as long as shes playing somewhere and the numbers follow should could easily replace the lost deals if any. Having a family will likely end up taking some time away at some point

Ive never seen a sport trying so hard from coaches, players, executives, media etc trying to convince people not to be interested in the sport because of the player thats bringing all the interest. Clarks had such a big impact two last place teams with the Mystics and Fever set records for attendance and ratings because of her. I guess if you know the league doesnt actually have to be profitable you can do such things

Unfortunately, the style of play in the WNBA makes it much more difficult for her to go off like she did at Iowa. Tonight’s game against Atlanta was a good example of that. She played well as a facilitator but it’s tough for her to find enough space to get into any real shooting groove.

Shes also on a really bad team. Poorly coached one as well when theres videos of he coach wanting her wanting her to practice and improve her 2 point shooting from inches in front of the 3 point line

Thats the dumbest shot in basketball when taking one step back its 3 points instead of 2 or you get closer and its a higher percentage

It is absolutely crazy to not put her on the Olympic Team. There is clearly an agenda.

    1. It has been said that US women basketball decimates world competition. they clearly don't "need" her to play in order to win.

    2. ANY time you can get more/new eyeballs on the product, you do it. what a lost opportunity. They most assuredly would have had higher ratings with Clark.

I know I would have tuned in to see her. I certainly wont without her there.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
