A very wild CC Seated Quarter

I haven't been on these forums in ages, but am still actively collecting Seated Quarters among other things...
There is a very wild CC Seated Quarter currently on GC with some very wild bids. I am out of the running on this one, curious to hear some remarks on this coin.
As Chris Chan would say, 'Thank you very much and have a wonderful day'

Welcome back!
Lovely color. I don't know the series but looks like the dies were in rough shape? Or is that common?

Rusted dies, not monkey pox there on Miss Liberty.
I know somebody chasing it. Hell of a coin. Makes my CC quarter look like a scrub.

I recognize your name - welcome back. How long had it been?

Hi Mark, 5 years?? Something like that. Hope you've been well!
Nice quarter! Color like that can result it some competitive bidding.
Toned seated quarters are the one silver series I'd really like but has to be nearly impossible to complete. I tried it briefly, and only kept one example.
I would have guessed longer.
Thank you and likewise.

Mark, I would wager your guess is more accurate than my memory!
NGC guide is 13.5k
33K in the last seconds. The winner should be glad Ian has a return policy on auction wins, then again, maybe not. Without seeing in hand hard to say, but it might have been in Gene Gardner's set had it come up for auction while he was alive. As much as can be gathered from the image, which is excellent, there appears to be clean fields indicative of a higher grade than 67, an excellent strike, and of course the color, eye appeal. (I'm not good at determining luster from images, but from the CAC sticker I assume it was very good.)
Two things:
1) $37K and change with the juice
2) GG had the finest set of Seated Quarters assembled to date that I know of. He was kind enough to give me a hardbound copy of his seated quarter book.
Edited to add, that link to 'SeatedQuarters' below goes nowhere, it appeared on its own.
Could it go 68 sure looks like it.
It has ALL the bells and whistles, therefore of all the examples known it is justified that it goes for moon money
This coin was on my watch list and bid on it in the low levels. This is a stunner and classic NGC/CAC........... Typical of the quality that both of these TPG's see going through their grading rooms............................
That coin is of atypical (not typical) quality, for what goes through their grading rooms.

Well but, true, but the point is that stunning coins do come through these two TPG's (and in particular NGC) despite what many folks would want us to believe.......................................
I think you’re confusing the general perception that NGC grades more loosely than PCGS, with the idea that stunning coins aren’t seen in NGC holders.

I collect seated quarters exclusively and used to have my entire set raw, so I've cracked out my share of PCGS and NGC coins. I can tell you as a fact that NGC grades more loosely on details, and also on cleaning. My experience is with AU and below coins, but I don't see why MS coins would be any different.
Could be, but just trying to point out that great coins are in NGC holders and doing a poor job of 'xplaining.............
I collect US coins and I can say that NGC is no more loose than PCGS based on 100s of submissions to both and in many cases the very same coins. This is a mis-perception, but let's not detract from the theme of the OP and I apologize for standing up for NGC and starting us on a different line of discussion................
Howdy @jhdfla, it's been a while. The coin looks quite cool.

I'm sharing my direct experience over the past couple of years having my raw (PCGS & NGC cracked) coins regraded by PCGS. I can't think of one former NGC coin that graded higher at PCGS but a handful have graded lower and/or received a details grade for cleaning. This is a fact, not a "mis-perception".
Here's a perfect example. Good thing I paid a little less than PCGS VF20 money.
PCGS VF20
I'm not bashing NGC, just pointing out they grade seated quarters on a looser standard than PCGS.
