Jets' draft bust says New York was the 'last place I should've gone,' says team had 'no plan'

It seems like every quarterback the New York Jets acquire turns into a bust.

Since 2000, the Jets have taken seven quarterbacks in either the first or second round.

Chad Pennington, the 18th pick in 2000, is probably the best of the bunch that also included Mark Sanchez, Kellen Clemens, Geno Smith, Christian Hackenberg, Sam Darnold, and Zach Wilson.

Even the four-time MVP they traded for, Aaron Rodgers, ruptured an Achilles on just his fourth play in a Jets uniform.

Good grief - the Jets record of QB draft busts is hard to do, even if ya try. 😆

Perhaps Rodgers will help them out this upcoming season. If he can stay healthy?

The Jets are going to win the AFC East this season I think.

    Christian Hackenberg?

He never played an NFL snap as a 2nd round pick? That's tough to do lol

I saw i think it was a few weeks ago where Rodgers was seen slightly limping during a workout. Perhaps not a limp, but favoring a leg just a bit. Could have been something not related to the Achilles?

There's not a more selfish player in the NFL than Aaron Rodgers.

Signs a mega contract in Green Bay - then whines about the quality of players on his team and is subsequently (and rightfully) shown the door.

Takes millions in payola to go on McAfee's awful show to spout misinformation about western medicine, then has no problem using same western medicine when it's his medical care at stake.

The sooner this guy retires the better off the league will be.

Jets around a 24-1 chance to win the Super Bowl.

Not a prohibitive long shot for a bet of this type. But not exactly a whole lotta love either.

For Rodgers seems like there might be some confusion about holistic medicine and just his love to using mind altering weird drugs. Hes never been a if I apply this leaf to my heel with essential oils I dont need surgery guy, he just loves doing weird substances.

For the Jets though usually you would just say that the prospect wasnt good enough and dismiss their comments. The Jets and Browns have ruined so many QBs though consistently (some which even found success elsewhere) that it just has to be something systematic with those franchises.

Sanchez, for all the grief he endured, much of it deservedly so, did lead the Jets to back to back AFC Championship games, though those Rex Ryan teams were spearheaded by the D.

Aaron Rodgers' absence from Jets minicamp unexcused, head coach Robert Saleh says

The Jets season sure doesn't seem to be off to an auspicious start.

Is it not too late to get a return and refund on the Aaron Rodgers deal?

No. Packers fans are content. ;)

This might be one of if not the funniest dumbest Jets are always going to Jet moment. A 40 year old HOF QB coming off a major surgery skipping minicamp and they arent smart enough to just say its okay? Lol I would love to be a fly on the wall with people making such dumb decisions.

The only thing funnier would be if he just retired and ruined their season and franchise for a few years over not going to a meaningless minicamp

DD - where are the Aaron Rodgers pics?

Don't make me come over there and get ya. 😉

Didn't any of these QB's learn anything from the Brady era?

Brady's great success happened mainly because he spent countless hours during the off season, diligently working with his receivers. Sure when things go right during a play, then it's relatively easy. The key to greatness in a QB and thus the offense moving the football, is improvising when a play breaks down. Brady used to constantly practice with his receivers, what they should do and where they should be when a play breaks down, when the receivers are covered, etc. Which helped lead the Patriots to all those many championships.

Rodgers pulling these shenanigans can't possibly be helpful. Sure of course he's likely still talented enough to make the completions when all goes well during a play. However when a play breaks down, and him not being intimately familiar with the receivers, it could lead to disaster. Which will cost them losing football games.

Could happen. Frankly, he just doesn't seem motivated out there. This training camp silliness basically proves it.

He may be stealing money from the Jets. But we shall see what happens when the season starts.

NFL Agent: Jets in ‘Complete Disarray,’ Says Rodgers ‘Not a Team Player’

It’s not unusual for the New York Jets to be in disarray. However, usually, that’s because they don’t have a star quarterback. This time, the problem is a little different.

The Athletic surveyed 31 NFL agents to assess this year’s teams and their potential. Three agents labeled the Jets as the league’s most dysfunctional franchise, with only the Panthers (9) and Raiders (7) voted more dysfunctional.

Probably not the best way to begin a season. We shall see how it goes.

    New York Jets +160
    Buffalo Bills +195
    Miami Dolphins +210
    New England Patriots +2600

For me it was acquired knowledge over the years of what immune system fatigue is all about. Other reasons as well. For example I've never had a flu shot.

I'm healthy as a clam. Except for periods of depression I go thru for a few hours whenever the Eagles get eliminated in the playoffs. 😢

Here we go on the Vax topic so the thread will get locked down

Since that will happen I will say with the utmost confidence that everyone is different, when it comes to Covid and the Covid Vax it is a roulette wheel, it will help some people, hurt other people, kill some people or do absolutely nothing to other people.

    That's the bottom line

i vaxxed and boostered and the past 4+ years have been the healthiest of my life

hard to argue that there's not a correlation, but self-awareness also plays a role

i was always notorious for touching my face, but when covid hit that ended. your eyes, nose, mouth and ears......all gateways to your system. mess with them enough times and say hello to getting sick.

i haven't had so much as a cold in almost 5 years

Point taken, and I don't disagree with the premise.

However, just in the past few days a new study has shown that the covid jab is actually much worse than previously thought. Responsible for even more diagnosed negative consequences.

That being said, that's my final reply on the subject of covid, and may the thread continue so that we can comment on the trials and tribulations of the Jets upcoming season.

BTW - in my opinion, I think the recent locking of threads here, has been mostly about the silly nasty name calling. In one thread, I had the F bomb tossed at me. I ignored it. And I'm glad the moderator didn't notice it because the poster who did it, and I'm still baffled why he did it, and really couldn't care less why, is normally a pretty good guy. I'm glad he didn't get the ax.

I mean we need as many good posters as we can get on here, especially with football season coming up. I don't want to be walking into an abandoned bar, and ordering a drink.😉

No study linked. Typical Google "researcher" who thinks they know more than medical professionals who have spent literal decades studying vaccines and communicable diseases.

The vaccine is safe and effective. I would suspect the million+ Americans who died from COVID would agree had they had it and weren't, you know, dead. To this, I am sure you will counter with the usual nonsense: number of deaths are exaggerated! They made them up! Something-something China lab!

more than you know. i actually have Joe Rogan, of all people, to thank for that quote. for the longest time my lifestyle embodied Albert Einstein's definition of insanity. i could out-exercise someone 20 years younger, but what i was putting in my mouth and the frequency of it counteracted what was taking place in a gym. the net effect was wheels being spun.

i tweaked the dietary aspect and voila -- 20 lbs vanished in the blink of an eye. total game changer. it's common sense, but sometimes you need to hear or read it from someone else in order to fully wake up. now it's a part of who i am. if even one person reads my sig line and it proves beneficial, mission accomplished.

Steve, its no coincidence that the roughly 10-12 threads that got shutdown over the past 2-3 months just happened to coincide with an account from 2007, with very little comment history, just happened to show up out of the blue to literally start instigating with everyone. Almost every single one of those closed threads had a point where the topic veered off course into dissent and everytime it was when Mistlin made an appearance.

This thread's days are surely numbered but in the world of Jets busted draft picks, thankfully we'll always have the ButtFumble. 😉👍
