Definitely appears to be lacquered!

Contamination doesn’t equal lacquer
11.5$ Southern Dollars, The little “Big Easy” set
I was afraid PCGS wouldn’t slab this lacquered So-Called Dollar, but they did

I learned that contamination does not have "flow." The iridescent surface colors and raised residue could be either lacquer or some kind of contamination. I vote lacquer.
And a bubble in it, too. I've seen subtly lacquered coins in holders, but this one is not subtle.

My old eyes missed that dead giveaway. Thanks for the lesson.
Is that "bubble" under the sun a hardness dimple of the die? I have been wrong before.

NO! Now what is a "hardness dimple?" Old reference books talk about a "Rockville (?) test. I'd be surprised if it is done anymore.
Rockwell test.
The last Hardness test on a die that I have seen is on the reverse die on a 1921-D Morgan Dollar.

Under the microscope, there is clearly a bubble under the sun on the obverse and a bubble inside the D of dollar on the reverse… everything else you see is flow lines kind of like honey dripping
Look just a little closer, it’s lacquer.
Under them layers of plastic is a preserved coin.
They mentioned the lacquer on this one.
It’s one of the prize options in my new giveaway, if anybody wants a lacquered half-real for free.
