Hi,
This was part of an auction lot of a group of Lincoln and Indian Head cents. The coin has an interesting lamination error on the reverse, there is an line oh Lincoln's neck and the fold in his jacket looks to deep, and the color is similar to fake Lincoln cents that I have encountered. Besides all this, there's no wear or luster.
What is going on here?

Looks cleaned and re-toned, otherwise fine.
Not a lamination. Struck through folded scrap. A nice example.
It looks like it was struck though a detached de-lamination fragment
Coin is genuine with a Struck Through error.
Looks like a Struck thru Error to me.

I don't know. Lamination? Delamination? Struck thru string or something on the obv. Whatever it is, I like it!
I would use VERDI-CARE on that copper cent in a second!

First time I've seen the like in a long time
Thanks all.
I've concluded that it's an authentic coin, that has a reverse struck though a lamination peel. And perhaps a struck through string on the obverse.
A very cool Linc
An excellent example of that type of error and on a high grade, early date Lincoln with a mint mark to boot!
Nice grade and prominent example.
Very cool struck through. I tend to fall into the "struck through detached lamination peel" camp but would entertain a convincing "struck through scrap" argument.

Definitely a strike through. Nice one too.
