Did Andiehaley quit?

I see his'71 topps set is retired. Also I notice that he's been selling off some of the cards, including a few 1 of 1's. Is he getting out, or just starting over?
And one other question for '71 collectors: Is the owner of "Scott's Vision Quest" the guy known as "kmas5" on Ebay? That dude is probably the cause of the stock market crash the last few months; he pulled his billions out of the NYSE and started buying mint 9 '71 Topps cards. I noticed mint 9s of Ryan, Yaz, Killebrew, and Palmer, as well as about 60 others. Whoa!

I can't answer the Andiehaley question - but yes - Scott's Vision Quest is kmas5 on eBay. Thats Scott Tipton.

Scott is determined to build the finest set on the face of the planet and he is actually doing it. I have done business with him on many occasions and can state that he isn't just satisfied with filling the gap in the set with an 8. That card has to be the highest of high end cards to meet his standards. I don't bother offering or sending him mid-range material, and when it comes to anything that I'm auctioning, he will contact me, ask about the lots he is interested in, i will give him my honest assessment and those that I state are truly highend, he will buy them, period. His set is magnificent.
He will have the #1 Finest set of all time and will be untouchable.
It looks likes Rob D. is the current active leader and he's a great guy. I met him at the Ft. Washington show last Winter. The thing that I respect about him is that he's been very prudent in his purchases and has built a large part of his set by direct submissions.
Of course there is Zardoz; another terrific guy and same with Scott. I agree with Zardoz: Scott's set will be the standard that everyone compares their's to.
Finally, I just noticed "Doc" has a registered set. Another fantastic guy and one of my favorite eBay dealers. What a group! I hope to get back on my '71 set one of these days and give this bunch some competition!
I'm betting that we see both Scott and Steve "Doc" Peckovich swap positions on up into the 95% range. Scott will have more PSA 9 stars and Steve will keep adding more PSA 9 commons from his own submissions. In the end, I can see both of them going to the 8.30+ level.
If Scott eventually makes Steve "an offer he can't refuse" I could see him walking away with the undisputed crown down the road. We'll have to keep an eye on this one!!!!!

But I wonder, now that he will be living on his profits, will the prices go up?

On a side note your 71' set is an out of this worldly effort to date! Keep the memories alive!

Oh - and just out of curiousity... I thought that doing a large set like 72 was a challenge. After this one, I may tackle 70 or 67 or maybe even 74. But, you've targeted the 71 set as your first full graded set endeaver. With its black borders and green backs its tougher than any other set except maybe 62, 58 or 55 Bowman. Where do you go from here??? I mean whats left? a high end T-206 set maybe???

Surfing these boards for over a week now, I can't help but notice how nice and cordial everyone is. It's great to see.
I have just discovered the PSA Set Registry, and registered my 77 set. It was the first set I can remember collecting as a kid.
I look forward to corresponding with all of you in the future as well all attempt the impossible!

<< <i>Mark,
Welcome. Is the Mickey C for Mickey Cochrane?? >>
Believe it or not.....nickname is Mickey after Mickey Mantle. As a 9 year old kid, trying out for Little League, a 12 year old "veteran" saw how I played centerfield, and nicknamed me Mickey, after Mickey Mantle, as I jogged in from the outfield. Having heard of Mantle, but not fully understanding the meaning, I was disappointed that it wasn't after Mickey Rivers, who at the time, was my favorite player. Still looking to meet Rivers so I can tell him that story....
Thanks for the welcome!
Mark
Andiehaley (Keith Abrams) did switch over from being a collector to a dealer and that was the primary reason for breaking up the set. Anther great guy, even though he did break up the set...but I wont hold that against him.

It's about time that you quit being a stranger and joined us on this board. Just about all the 71 guys frequent this locale. Rob D reads the boards but never posts. It would be great if we could become more organized in a similar fashion to the 72 bunch with their website, secret handshakes, Swiss banks, etc.
I believe that 7's so graciously given to us, sometimes in copious quantities, are part of a master plan by PSA to keep us humble and in our place. It is PSA's raison d'être to prove that we do not know it all and can't be accurate in our assessment of cards, thus justifying their existence.
So far, their plan is working..................and very well, I might add....
I had the priveledge of purchasing an uncut 71 sheet from Bob C. recently....absolutely fascinating!! (thanks Bob!). Fred Wenz, Reggie Jackson, 1st Ser. Checklist, and Lou Piniella are sitting there right on the corners and all are real tough 8s. Rose and Munson are also on the end of a row, which apparently is why those are tough as well.
Steve
Don't push me, or I just might hit the "Submit for Review" button, rocketing up my completion percentage!
Seriously, the 6's and 7's that I've bought from the '71 crowd are absolutely stunning cards, and whatever reasons that make them 7's rather than 8's are not easy to spot without close examination.
Even as far down as 6, this is a beautiful set.
