Grayson Murray
i doubt anyone here recognizes that name. he was a pro golfer. he was participating in the Charles Schwab Challenge -- a tour stop in Ft. Worth, TX -- as recently as two days ago. he withdrew after 16 holes on Friday citing illness. the next day, he ended his own life.
i've gone to this tournament many times, dating back to the 90s. wasn't able to make it this year. if I had, i might have caught Murray in action while traversing Colonial's track. if I had, this story would have been more surreal and provided more perspective than it already does.
this isn't so much a golf post as it is a reminder that at the end of the day, life is fragile. demons are real, no matter who you are. don't sweat the small stuff in life, and be vigilant when it comes to those who might be in dire need of assistance.
his parents had some very powerful words that everyone can apply to their everyday lives:

I saw a blip of that on CBS Sports and read a little about it.
Definitely a sad and tragic situation
Pasted:
Murray was open about his struggles with sobriety and depression during his life as a professional golfer.
I saw that on yahoo news. Very sad.
Rest in peace.
Very sad news...

Very unfortunate. Thoughts are with his family, friends, and fans.
RIP
Very sad. Spread the word about the 988 suicide hotline if you know someone who’s struggling - even Metallica recommends talking to someone when they play Fade to Black these days.
