I love it, any beaver is an awesome coin. That one has great obverse detail for a 15, it’s fairly wholesome and so many of them terribly mutilated. I tracked that one through the auction and tried to talk myself into it, but I’m in search of higher graded example. I figured that coin would disappear from Doug’s site fairly quickly.

    Love me some beaver!

Having fun while switching things up and focusing on a next level PCGS slabbed 1950+ type set, while still looking for great examples for the 7070.

We’re pieces like this struck “on order”, was the prospectors own gold struck and returned to him in coin form?

Gotta love beaver and an awesome territorial. I find territorials the most fascinating and historical but that’s just me. I really like gold rush era but I wouldn’t have done well then without toilet paper 🧻 . Probably why so many shoot outs in the saloons, diaper rash.

CoinFacts has a great, detailed writeup on these - https://www.pcgs.com/coinfacts/category/territorial/oregon-gold/850.

Kinda funny that the "T. O." on the $5 was supposed to be "O. T." and the "G" was supposed to be a "C". Looks like they corrected the errors on the $10.
