1950’s Scorecards and Baseball Books Information

Hello Everyone, I love collecting old books and my grandparents gave me these books years ago. Do they have potential to one day be sought after by collectors or be worthy of an action, or have they depreciated through the years? The reason I ask is because years ago I think in 2008 the Dodgers red 1955 Scorecard sold for $5000 and currently they are not worth anything near that. Or are they? Please educate me a little and thank you. More books in comment section.

Nice collection. They look very well maintained and yes there is value to them. You can research them using eBay sold.

Thank you pab1969. Yea the books have been in a book case most of their life, most are like new. I don’t think it’s worth anything but did you happen to read those players names in the news paper clipping? Big names!

The Dope Book should be an interesting read. Also the 1962 Mantle/Maris should arouse some interest. Very clean and historical pieces you have there.

Very nice collection. I don't see any "can retire" type money there, but of course they have some value. Might be a few hidden gems in there that I'm not aware of their high value.

The basic "problem" is that most folks kept these. They weren't thrown out like many did with baseball cards. Therefore they're likely not scarce.

If you just want to get rid of them, the best thing would perhaps be to list them on Ebay with a high buy it now price, and best offer, and see what comes in. But before you do that, check out each one online just to make sure there is no ultra high dollar item that you list for say $100, but is actually worth considerably more than that.

Years ago I had many yearbooks, world series programs of Yankee's,Giants,Dodgers all from the late 40's into 50's. They are a tough sell. Limited market. Took years to liquidate and did not get what I thought they were worth.

If you are near Cleveland, Ohio there will be a National sports card show in July. You might have some luck there as it is the largest show of it's kind for the year.

Unfortunately I am not but that would definitely be ideal. Maybe I’ll have something someone is missing to complete a set, if there is a such thing. These books and scorecards are in excellent condition. I’m real curious about that red 1955 Dodgers scorecard. When it sold for $5,000 several years back I would think the other bidders that participated would still be on the lookout for another? But that was long ago and they possibly found it elsewhere by now. I would’ve thought more collectors would be into these books and scorecards because they sure are fun to read and look at especially the old commercials in them and characters!

The 64 Mets cover has the World's Fair Unisphere depicted on it. Possibly a cross collectible. A World's Fair memorabilia collector might find it appealing for that reason. I like the cover art work on most of your examples. I still feel the Mantle,Maris cover has decent value to the right collector.
