1983 D 1C errors?…

I’m hoping someone may help me. (Newbie here.)
Are these errors on this coin, and if so, what are they?

Not an error. An error can only occur during the striking of the coin.
What you have is a severe case of zinc rot caused by the zinc core being exposed to the air.
Get rid of it as it will only get worse.

I would say spend it, but I would just toss it back into a parking lot for another poor soul to find. ;)

The best way to learn IMO is to first learn the minting process during the relevant period, and here is a simple but good starting point of an accumulated batch of information: https://coinauctionshelp.com/mintingprocesshistory.html then move on to places like varietyvista.com for DDO/DDR/RPM examples by year by coin.

    Spend it, that's about it

  • Many thanks to all.
And, thank you for the link, @Slade01 😊
