Anyone use COMC lately to sell cards? I have a sub question.

I have a 3200 count of singles I plan to send in. In terms of what kind of raw cards to submit, here is what I think sells best based on what I see on YT and my own experience -

  1. Serial numbered cards
  2. Refractors/Prizms
  3. Inserts
  4. RCs higher than paper base.

How do base common autograph rookie cards do? I have a ton of auto rookies of washed up players (100+), is it worth sending them in to COMC or just sell it as a lot on ebay?

I've been watching NEO's videos on YT about it and it looks like a good way to clear out the lower end singles.

I've submitted cards in the past (not a ton) and have the following observations:

The sweet spot for self-submitted cards right now would be anything that would sell for a minimum of $1.50 that has less of a prospect of price being undercut. Being the lowest price on the site doesn't really mean much if you could go to ebay or sportlots and get it for less.

Serial numbered cards tend to sell better - the lower the /xx number the better. That said there are quite a bit of serial numbered cards of non-stars that will sit there for awhile, unless you give them away. I just sold a no-name rookie serial numbered to 25 for $2.24 and it sat there on the site since I submitted it in April of 2019. So, when you factor the submission fee and the $0.01 monthly fee (based on list price) for 60 months, I still came out ahead, but I waited a long time to move that card. Alternatively, I have other cards of washed up prospects numbered out of 10 and 25 listed for $0.99 to $1.24, but they sit there.

Superstars will sell. Even older inserts of stars will sell, but you really need to do some homework on what they would realistically go for. There are plenty of star cards where it's a race to the lowest price. I think refractors stars will do better, but it depends. One of the guys I PC (future HOFer) has refractors available for as low as $0.79, so in that example, if you're submitting the card for $0.50 and you move it for $0.74, which nets you $0.70, you're still making $0.20. If you cash out, then you would pay $0.07 fee, which brings your net to $0.13. You would have to gage if that's worth your time. For me, I use whatever I have sold to help fund purchases to avoid the cash-out fee.

Anyway, I haven't sent anything in since pre-pandemic, but if I ever did again, I would definitely compare what things are listed for across sites before sending in. If you have a bunch of stuff that are guaranteed $2+ cards, you're in great shape.

Thanks lahmejoon. I think the $2 threshhold maybe the best way to go. That would justifty most of the star refractors and rookie autos. I don't want to overwhelm myself with all of the serial numbered cards I have.

I don't sell on COMC, but here is a good piece of advice I have seen given that seemed to make sense to me. Since you have to fund your COMC account first in order to buy or sell, just fund the account initially with about $20 only, and then make your first submission be just a few cards that you think will net you $50+/- so that the sale of those few cards will add funds to your balance for future submissions, and you may not have to add money to the account out of your pocket again.

Nam - that makes sense. What I’m really hoping is that it eats some of the space I have in my hobby office l.
