Any thread whose title begins with "The Official...".

This is the CU forum. By definition, only CU staff or people who have otherwise been appointed as "officials" by CU are "officials" here. Anyone else who starts a thread claiming to be "the official" thread on a subject, is lying.

Any mention of a US coin dated since 1900 or so, + the words ‘rare’ or ‘unique’

    I’ll start:

“Need help attributing an 1851 Large Cent”

That’s funny. I bought one at the snowy Colorado Springs ANA and walked over to Tom Reynolds’s table and asked him to attribute it. It took him like 4 minutes and he was scribbling notes as he went. I commented that this obviously required skill, and he looked up and replied “yes”.

    Anyone else wanna try?

    N-6 too easy!

I spent about 20 minutes each on a couple of unc 1851s the other day because there were no diagnostics on either. Could only be attributed by date position. :|

That was eight years ago. It would never happen today. ;)

I guess if the thread was titled, "Would you pay a pretty penny for this 1861-D $5 DOG?", I might click on that one, today.
