New eBay annoyance

I've been pretty active on eBay for years and usually appreciate getting seller's offers on coins I've placed on my watchlist, but lately, it seems that merely looking at a coin triggers an offer on something I have no interest in. This isn't limited to one particular seller, seems to happen across the board. Anybody else?

Yep, me too. I get an offer and think it may be something on my watchlist and may be interested, and it turns out to be something I just clicked on to get a better look and had no interest whatsoever.
Yes, these are called "browse abandonment" campaigns. As a seller, I like them. As a buyer, I don't. I went through setting to see if you can turn them off, but only found an option to turn off all offer emails.
Nothing is as expensive as free money.
They annoy me. If I wanted to possibly bid on a coin, I would put it on watch list or whatever. Ebay pushing items just because I clicked on it once.... knock it off ebay.
eBay doesn't do it. The seller does it. The only time "eBay does it" is if the seller requests that offers be sent to anyone who shows interest.
Annoying.

I don't mind offers, but I also get random emails from ebay asking me to "take another look" at something I clicked on previously.
I find it annoying, so I only send specific offers to watchers who hang around a while and only manually, no automatic EBay decisions allowed.
Oh yeah. It's an annoying feature I wish could be turned off. If I want to look at it again, I'll "add to watch list".

Ah yes, modern marketing. Lots of annoying stuff.
Similarly, sometimes when I deliberately hesitate and leave an ad for a product showing on my iPad screen on Facebook, about an hour or so later I get a commercial for the same product on my Smart TV. My wife didn’t believe me when I told her, so I paused on an ad on my iPad and about an hour later got an ad for the same product on the TV and she saw it.
Likewise, at a recent trade show where my company had a booth set up we also paid to be a major sponsor of Free WiFi for the show. Our head of marketing told me that in return for being a major sponsor of the WiFi, that he was allowed to give them one keyword and that anybody registered for the trade show who used the free WiFi for either their cellphones or an iPad or laptop, if their microphone on their device heard the keyword that they would be sent an e-mail with an announcement that our company was promoting a product related to the keyword.

99% are ridiculous 2-5% off. Although, I have had what I’d call a couple desperation offers come through that were too good to pass up. In general though - it’s annoying as hell.
Having fun while switching things up and focusing on a next level PCGS slabbed 1950+ type set, while still looking for great examples for the 7070.
Some of the time, yes. But.... they also keep sending emails.... you can still get it! Don't let it get away, etc.! When I click on it, thinking it was something I put on watch list.... nope! Just something I had inadvertently clicked on in the past. These are not offers being made from the seller; they are ebay pushing to get me to bid on something I have no interest in.
Or, the annoying messages from ebay.... "you forgot something!" No, ebay I did not forget something.
I couldn't even know who or how to make such an offer if it wasn't for Ebay suggesting I do so on my seller page.

I have also noticed this sales gimmick trigger.

They originally sent offers to those with that listing in their watchlists AT THE TIME the offer was posted. Then they sent to users who subsequently added it o er the duration of the offer. Then they extended the time period to be indeterminate. Most recently, they send them to anyone who opens the listing to look.
As I look at every listing of series I work with, that basically spams me.
Most recently, I have a bigger grievance with eBay. A seller is selling an expensive coin I own. I know the account is hijacked. They are still civilly responsible for it just as firearm owner is for a gun that's stolen and not reported and used to commit a crime.
I contacted eBay three times. Pointed out that their listing was even trying to steer sales off of eBay and sent them a photo of me holding the same coin in front the listing on the monitor. They have done nothing. So to share some one hopefully of pat lying them, I listed it with that photo for a million bucks. After I did that, more bids came in on their listing. Dumbasses probably think, "Wow, it's worth a million dollars and I can get it for several thousand!"
If you want to see the two listings, just search BB-235 in the Coins section.
