well, since your post was looking so lonely, i thought id give my .02

OBP is a great stat, which not only tells a persons ability to hit, but the ability to draw walks...if actually not underrated, and its used all the time image
  • average with runners in scoring position. i am a jeter fan, and whenever i talk to a nomar fan, they always say "look how many rbi's more nomar has than jeter".....well, jeter bats 2nd and nomar bats 3rd or 4th and gets a lot more chances. if jeter has a better avg with r.i.s.p, then the fact that nomar has more rbi's because of more chances cant be an argument for a nomar fan. i will look up the stats and brb.

  • But to answer the question. I am not sure which stats are underrated. I just know of overrated stats.

  • im thinking maybe STOLEN BASES, it use to be a big deal, and there use to be big hype between the leagues and stuff, now days you rarely hear about it, only from players like A-Rod, Jeter, etc, dont get me wrong there are sum fast runners in baseball, but you hear them talk about the running on the base PATHS!!, not stealing bases. In my opinom its an underrated stat partly because the catchers have gotten better at gunning them out, its a lost art

  • Pitchers ERA. When people talk about a pitcher being good or bad, they always use they're win loss record. I'd take a pitcher thats 0-10 with a 2.00 ERA over a pitcher thats 10-0 with a 6.00 ERA anyday.

  • I don't think anyone will want a pitcher that goes 0-10 with 2.00 era. If a pitcher is giving up alot of runs and still getting win thats the bottom to teams .It just means he has a good teams helping him out on those days he pitchs
