And will acetone get rid of the green gunk?

    Welcome. Acetone can dissolve pvc deposits. I'd soak it overnight and then if necessary, gently roll a wet qtip over the green goop. Good luck.

    If it is verdigris then acetone should do the trick, however it's hard to make any determination based on that photo.
