A couple more auction wins from Alaska Rare Coins

They do a couple of auctions a year and it has been a good source of better coins for me. Though they don't post images, their descriptions are always spot on. This time I won a raw 1917-S Buffalo nickel graded VF, which will look great in my Library of Coins folder. Also snagged a PCGS XF-45 1874-S Seated liberty half. This date almost never shows up anywhere, so I had to get this coin for my collection. It has a nice original look to it.

Nice!
Both look like premium examples for the stated grade.
I think that nickel has a shot at XF40, although the absence of the horn tip may hold it back to 35. Either way, both coins look great. Thank you for sharing.
Really like the buffalo, is this Alaska Premier Auctions or a different firm?

Beautiful seated half!!
Buffalo not too shabby, either! 😉
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

That is a very nice 74-S! Nice ones are hard to find.
I have been to their store in Fairbanks, Alaska. We were there for northern lights and the store was across the street. During the day the temperature was -20F and at night -30F. Damn cold!
