Rashee Rice. Idiot.

craig44craig44 Posts: 11,348 ✭✭✭✭✭

Is this guy stupid or what? you are already in major hot water over stupidly racing your rented cars and crashing them. Now he is under investigation for assaulting a photographer in a night club Monday night.

If you are already under the microscope for your poor behavior and choices, WHY ON EARTH would you put yourself in any type of situation that could exacerbate your problems? I just don't understand it.

if it were me, I would have subscribed to all the streaming platforms and invested in about 3000 bags of microwave popcorn and stayed at home until training camp. like not leave the house.

I think it is time for the Chiefs to cut this guy. a loose cannon.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

I'd say it depends on the place where Andy Reid himself is right now.

Don't forget, when Reid was head coach of the Eagles, it was his idea to sign Michael Vick after his dog fighting conviction and prison sentence.

So unless "something else" happens, I'd guess that Rashee Rice will still be on the team.

you could be right. personally, I would rather have "character" guys on a team. It is possible that Reid is anticipating getting out of the game in a few years. In which case, he will want all of his bullets in the magazine for this season.

Yea one of these days it wouldn't surprise me at all, if he receives assault charges from one of his girlfriends. Then he can kiss his NFL career goodbye. 💸

Hes making a lot of bad decisions but realistically unless he ends up in prison (which he might) civil cases are his biggest concern. Hes likely only looking at a few game suspension or like half a season. Teams and the league put up with a ton if they think you can help them win as long as you dont criticize the commish or the league.

Rieds kid was allowed to keep coaching for a while after ruining a families life, the Panthers owner is on video throwing a drink at a fan and even stopping at a restaurant to accost the staff removing one of their hats because he didnt like the sign out front etc.

Even with Hunt the Browns signed him and hes still playing. I'm not defending Rice by any means but someone else would just sign him if he got cut as long as hes not in jail.

My statement has nothing to do with him playing in the league or not.

It is based on the fraudulent "Moral high ground" the Chiefs took when the Hunt incident occurred and they cut him but are ok with other guys commiting worse offenses

The NFL and NFL teams have proved continually over the years that what they want is Championship Trophies. If it takes players of questionable judgement and low moral character to win those trophies then that's what it takes. We are in a period of time when "cancel culture" wields a lot of power in society. For some peculiar reason that doesn't extend to sports. The number of NFL players who shouldn't have been or shouldn't be in a uniform is surprising, but it shouldn't be surprising that one of the 32 owners is always willing to sign these questionable players.

I can think of no better example than Ray Lewis.

    speaking of Ray Lewis...
it has been so long ago that I forget now. I don't think he ever convicted of those murders? or a lesser charge? I seem to recall there was a double murder that went down and he was implicated. but man, that was over 25 years ago and the memory is fuzzy at best.

The transcript of the entire trial is available online - minus the stuff which wasn't allowed for the jury to review. Sustained objections etc.

    To save you the effort...

    1. No one was convicted of Murder. The jury ruled self-defense.
    2. Ray did his best, it seems, to stay out of it and get out of there.
    3. Ray was not overly cooperative with the police initially. He was charged along with two others with murder.
    4. During the trial Ray took a deal (Obstruction of Justice) and effectively was a prosecution witness. he was the only one involved who spent any time in Jail I believe. Perhaps minus any time spent following arrest and/or arraignment.

It became pretty clear that he had nothing to do with the fight where those guys got stabbed and killed. The limo he was in had bullet holes in it. I remember there was blood found inside the limo. There was blood in Ray's hotel room. I don't recall all of the details unfortunately, other than I remember that he was completely exonerated -- criminally. I believe he was fined by the NFL, but not suspended (not sure on this last part), and he settled civil suits brought by the families of each of the victims.

Oh. And Yes, Rashee Rice seems pretty immature.

  • MaywoodMaywood Posts: 2,189 ✭✭✭✭✭

Funny how we remember things differently.

What I recall is that Ray Lewis was identified by eyewitnesses as being at the scene with blood on his clothing. When he was sought by police he vanished, only to resurface some 12-15 hours later, all cleaned up with no trace of his clothing to ever be found. He was uncooperative at first but eventually turned on his friends and received a sentence of one year probation IIRC. I have always felt his circumstances and those of OJ were similar.

I will probably look it up next time I'm on a conf. call with AT&T. I won't be able to help myself.

Yea theres no secret that players get treated differently based off their perceived value. If Hunt was their QB I seriously doubt they would have cut him. Ray Rice is a perfect example of it with everyone trying to cover it up with a short suspension until the video got leaked. Obviously if you or I did a lot of these things we would be in jail and the players generally just pay fines and civil suits

My point was really just that theres no reason for a team to cut a player they deem valuable if another team is just going to sign them right away and the NFL will let them play. Thats just giving away a player for free. Only way that changes is if the NFL starts handing out harsher suspensions or bans

I totally get it, I was just pointing out the hypocrisy with the Chiefs over this.

And I'd say the same thing about any team including my beloved Patriots

For sure. I dont like the double standards at all and Reids son should have been fired immediately but unfortunately it is how it is. Being good at a sport shouldnt mean you can attack people and nothing happens. The Pat Bev incident that just happened in the NBA he should be banned from the league for firing a ball at fans twice in a row but I wont hold my breath on that one either

Haha I would even accept it better if it just wasn't so ridiculously obvious

Try being a Corrections officer in a state facility with an elected sheriff being judge jury and executioner over staff.

I am so well versed in how unfair punishments are depending on who you know or who you politically donate money too it's beyond absurd lol

It is now being reported that back before he was drafted and at SMU, Rice allegedly fired bullets into a mans car who he believed to be interested in his then girlfriend.

apparently, this information was disseminated to all teams before the draft and KC still decided to draft this guy.

Andy Reid must like signing players who are criminals. IE Michael Vick imprisoned for dog fighting, Travis Kelce suspended in college for drugs, and now this guy.

It’s not like the Chiefs need any top quality receivers to win the Super Bowl anyway.
