2022 D Quarter Nina Otero-Warren Split Finger Error?

I found one of these but can not find another one like it anywhere. I don't see any doubling, cuds, or any other issues. Most ebay auctions are for doubling or cuds but nothing like this. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

That is interesting. Were you searching rolls or bags? Not seeing many hits.

I just started searching rolls from the bank. I'm new to this collecting. The coin seems to be uncirculated and very new. Not even small scratches on either side.

I see only damage from a hit or scrape.

    That's just wong.

Back about 25 years ago a Chinese CCP fighter pilot almost killed our entire flight crew!! The idiot wound up killing himself. His name was Lt Cdr Wang Wei. He was well known to us and recognized as an incompetent pilot. His nickname was wrong way! 🤣

If this is just "a HIT" where did the extra metal come from that is over lapping the other finger? If you look at a normal coin like this the whole yellow marked area is new metal then. JMHO

The metal was displaced by the hit itself.

What should I do with it? Is it worth having it checked out?

@KDG6 - Now, take a step back and try filling a Whitman folder.

You're getting ahead of your own knowledge and abilities by trying to look for errors/varieties.

Did that about 40 years ago. I always try to move forward and try to learn in my retirement. Judging by the "Disclaimer: I guess I should seek another opinion. Thank anyways.

If it's a TPG opinion that you pay for, I would agree. Some people have trouble learning their lesson for free.

FWIW it looks like a hit to me also but photos can be deceptive. It could also be a small strike through. Can't really be sure without seeing the coin in hand.

Ignore Ike, he's always like that. He can't resist commenting at the same time that he loathes you for making him comment.

Ignore jmlanzaf, he's just cranky because he hasn't had a new protégé yet today...until now! ;)

Thank you! ---- Like I said I'm taking this back up in retirement. Condescending comments like his are what turn people off on a hobby. They are afraid to ask a question. Not everyone is an "EXPERT". Thank you again for the help and the civil comment!

I guess the best mentors aren't necessarily the ones with the best eye or the most knowledge, but those that are most obsessed with having a new protégé. Looks like you found the right guy! ;)

Or the person more interested in common courtesy.

My mistake - I thought I could provide the correct answer and that common courtesy would be a two-way street.

    You sure showed me! :D:D:D
