Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes doubles down on Super Bowl three-peat aspirations: 'We're gonna do it again'

Seems like a bad idea to brag like this. Especially in the NFL. This will make some mighty fine bulletin board material for the opposing teams in every game the Chiefs play next season.

I recall the Chicago Bears got into a similar mode after their dominating 1985 season along with an easy Super Bowl win. They began bragging about how great they were, came out with a team dance video doing the same, etc. Well, that team never won another Super Bowl.

We shall see if this works out for the Chiefs or not. In any event, I'd have to believe that Andy Reid wished that Patrick would have kept his mouth shut.

Not good enough. He should have flown down to Miami, sat around poolside, and guaranteed it!

So Steve you’re about 3 months late with this. Mahomes and Kelce and practically the whole team have been talking about a 3peat ever since the latest SB win.

To be fair the article is from May 2nd

Yes, it's entertaining to do except when it backfires, and it usually does.

Steve tries to stir up controversy with the Chiefs for some reason. He also said the swift/Kelce thing would backfire.

The Bears went into the playoffs with Doug Flutie as their QB after McMahon was injured by Charles Martin of the Packers on probably the worst cheap shot in NFL history.

Well, we'll know better as next season wears on, if there are negative effects from all this bragging. I think it's very possible.

This pompous bragging doesn't remotely equate to the Taylor Swift ongoing spectacle with Travis Kelce.

It's your boy Mahomes stirring up the controversy. And I think next season it's gonna come back to bite him in the arze, and then he'll learn not to do it again.

I don't recall Tom Brady or Joe Montana ever doing silly chit like this.

    They knew better.

Good news for me that you’re just now hearing about mahomes talking about a 3peat because otherwise you would have been posting constantly about it for the last 3 months.
I wish Mahomes would come out and say he wants an undefeated 20-0 season like he did a few years ago, that would be cool. 👍

I had seen snippets of it, but I don't follow the Chiefs 24/7 like you do.

No NFL head coach in history would call doing this a "good idea" and you know it.

Any other team if they had won 2 super bowls in a row would be talking about a 3peat. Dont tell me Brady or his teammates never did.

I like that Mahomes comes out and makes bold statements like this. He has supreme self confidence in himself and his teammates. If he didn’t have that belief in himself he never would have led KC to 3 Super Bowl wins.

I think most great athletes have 100% belief in their abilities. Confidence is a key element in sports. I don't have too much of a problem with bragging IF the player can back it up.

Jordan and the bulls are a great example. They talked about 3peat all the time. Don’t remember how many they won in a row but I know Jordan got 6 total.

If they're not saying it, they're thinking it, so I doubt it matters to the karma police.

"Next year in New Orleans, we’re going to do it again," Mahomes declared. "Put it on the table. We’re going to do it again. I’m telling you now."

"We're going for that three-peat. … Don't get it twisted. We're doing it. Three times. … First time in NFL history, we're doing it," Mahomes said as he addressed the fans at the Chiefs' Super Bowl victory rally.

All this sure sounds to me like pompous bragging. That's because it is pompous bragging.

Hey, maybe it will all work out for Patrick, Travis, and Taylor. Or perhaps Mahomes falls flat on his face next season, Kelce starts dropping passes like they're hot potatoes, and Taylor dumps Travis for some other weirdo in sports or show business. 😆

Let’s just hope a new team comes out of the nfc so they don’t have to beat up on the Niners or Eagles again.

    "Travis Kelce signs two-year extension"
    April 29, 2024 8:46PM

Could we please refrain from the Taylor Swift jokes? Enough is enough already.

The bottom line is that this new contract was Taylor made for Travis Kelce, resulting in his Swift signing. 😉

I doubt that anyone takes Mahomes proclamation seriously, KC just won 3 out of the past 4 SBs and the majority of fans/media/bookies all have the Chiefs as favorites to win the next one anyways.
Had Pat said this a few days before the SB is to be played out, that would be one things but he's saying this in May months before they're due to play in an actual game.
