Recently added the 1872-CC to my Carson City 50C set and I'm now down to two left: 1873-CC No Arrows and 1877-CC. Carson City half dollars are a short lived set, 1870-1878, and the shortest of all the Seated Liberty 50C branch mint issues. Each coin represents the early days of the South West and overall saw heavy circulation. Though there are only ten pieces in the set some of them are among the more challenging to obtain within the overall Seated Half dollar set. My goal for this short set, along with the rest of my Seated Liberty Half Dollar date/MM set, has been to locate each piece in XF condition. I am not a photographer and all but three of the following pics are seller/archived auction listings so credit to them.

Comments welcomed but more importantly... please share your own Carson City half dollars!

The Carson City Mint, now The Nevada State Museum, is still the only U.S. Mint I have visited and highly recommended to anyone yet to do so.

This was hanging in the museum and it feels like it should be the mascot/spirit animal of my CC set as it reinvigorated my determination to finish it.

    Nice coins...tough set.

Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't love to look at a pretty bust.

@Southcounty That's an incredible coin. When you find you're upgrade, I'd absolutely love to have a shot at owning your VF30!
