1890 ANACS Indian- AT/NT?

lsicalsica Posts: 1,584 ✭✭✭✭

Hello Group - wondering what the AT/NT concensus was for this 1890 ANACS Indian. I like to think I'm at least better than fair in making that determination for silver coins, but notsomuch when it comes to copper. And also (if I may) for my and everyone here's edification - if you think it's AT let us know why. Thank you.

I've enclosed multiple photos with light from different angles to help. And I know the pics s%$k but they're from my phone camera without a tripod. My apologies, and thanks to all

Looks MS70 and retoned/enhanced. That said many consider that market acceptable for copper even if I don’t

Definitely cleaned and perhaps an attempt at recoloring. The usual telltale is the color difference that is not like normal red to brown change around the lettering, date, and devices. Note how the open areas are more uniformly less colored than around the periphery. I experiment a lot on junk coins and they always turn out very similar to this, copper can be cleaned but it can never be recolored to look natural, other than by some mad genius out there somewhere that is sliding them past everyone. And ANACS is the most forgiving IMO, PCGS calls questionable color far more often, and I'm not saying that is a bad thing - just an observation.
