You should be able to get the $100 insurance honored plus cost of shipping.

    I was receiving the package.

The seller had private insurance and is already working to get their money back.

It's good he had private insurance and was not "self-insured". Additionally usps should pay out; I don't think the private insurance would negate a usps claim as well.

You can't make 2 insurance claims on the same item.

    WAIT?
Why not the shipper paid for the postage and that included the insurance.
Nowhere does it state?? That the Post office should not pay the insurance claim.

You can't "make a profit" on insurance loss claims. Any amount paid out by the USPS should be deducted from the Private Insurer's payment.

To put it another way, if the item is later found, it belongs to the insurance company that paid the claim. Therefore, only one claim can be filed as there can be only one owner if the item is later recovered.

Sellers have to wait two weeks to file a claim with the usps on empty packages shown delivered. I have had some luck on usps claims being honored on $100 or less items. I spoke with their customer service earlier that told me the process of filing. I hadn't had any parcels for years get delivered empty, now 2 in the last couple months.

You better have a money trail involved in the purchase of the coin. PayPal or credit card works….cash (check) you are screwed! Need invoice from a business, not a hand written….

I’m not the seller. I don’t have a dog in the fight, except hoping it’s found so I can add it to my redbook set! 🤬
