Books on Altered Coins, Toning, and Errors?

yspsalesyspsales Posts: 2,319 ✭✭✭✭✭

Trying to move my education along and was researching books on selected topics.

Plan to use the ANA library when possible, but hope to build a personal collection.

I see alot of choices across many decades and authors.

Any in particular that I should focus upon initially?

BST: KindaNewish (3/21/21), WQuarterFreddie (3/30/21), Meltdown (4/6/21), DBSTrader2 (5/5/21) AKA- unclemonkey on Blow Out

Been going thru a lull in my actual collecting and attending shows.

During slow numismatic activity I like to build upon my library.

Going with this old book that I saw somebody screenshot while discussing the 1955 DDO

Own a couple of others, so it is interesting to compare and contrast.

    Two future purchases...

Don Bonser authored ANA class books, but they were pricey.

    Another book by Fivaz

The Harsche book has some outdated/incorrect information.

I recommend Numismatic Forgery by Charles M. Larson. He covers altered coins as well as counterfeits.
