They have to be right, 17-0? If not, who do you think is the greatest NFL team ever?

Interesting fact about that 72' Dolphins team, Bob Griese actually started and won the first five games of the season, but fell victim to injury against the San Diego Chargers. Earl Morrall started and won the remaining nine games of season. Morrall started both the Divisional and AFC conference games, but Griese returned to start Super Bowl VII.
Pats fans descend in 3…2…1.
(as of this posting, the thread is right under the Eli Manning thread )

No. Great... yes. Greatest? No. There is no greatest
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
They put together the greatest Season ever, nobody can argue against that.
The Patriots could have but they lost that Super Bowl, I hope it still gnaws at all of them for losing that game
I can only imagine that they were defeated by the greatest quarterback that has ever played. I can't remember who it was, but I am sure he is a lock for the HOF.
New line on the resume... "wins against almost greatest NFL team" 1
These threads are so much better than the usual! Love it.
l'm gonna have to get my VHS recordings out...Don said and thought; the 73 Dolphins were a much better team...
In the NBA the 2015-2016 Warriors had a regular season record of 73-9, the best ever by one game over the 72-10 Chicago Bulls of the 1990's.
However the Warriors, after leading 3-1 in the Finals, lost 3 in a row to lose 4-3 to Cleveland.
If the Warriors had won the title in 2016 instead of losing it, that team would be justified in claiming it is the best NBA team of all time.
Since it lost the title in 2016 many would say that the 2015-2016 Warriors are not close to being the best NBA team of all time; and that the 73-9 regular season record means nothing if you do not win the title.
So as for the 1972 Dolphins, if you measure greatness by having the best record and winning the title, they are the best NVL team ever.
If you do not so measure then the Dolphins are not the greatest and other teams can argue that they are (including the Patriots who went 18-1 losing the Superbowl to the Giants).
I read once they didnt beat a single team above .500 in the regular season that year. Not sure if that was true but their schedule was certainly soft.
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
They beat a couple 8-6 teams (Chiefs and Giants), but yes, an incredibly soft schedule. But you can only play the games you're assigned to play, and Miami did only have two games they won by fewer than 10 points.
Miami softer schedule, yes. But they still had to be "up" for those poorer teams. How many times through the years have we seen superior teams lay down versus the creampuffs, only to lose. Seems Miami did not take the opposition for granted.
1978 Steelers team is right up there. That was the year Bradshaw won the double MVP - Regular season and Super Bowl.
Terry Bradshaw was AMAZING!!
