micheal jordan fleer rookie cards ?s

I have a Fleer Jordan rookie card that bought back in 91 or 92. I tried to scan it but the case it is in all scratched up. I checked all the thing to make sure it is real and it is. From what I can see and under a magnifier glass, the color is prettty good. The edges and corners are in really good condition. the only thing I can tell is it is a little off center. my question is what level should I buy when I send it in?

If you choose a low level...they will call and let you know they will upcharge you.

I would say $75 or $129, unless it has really crappy corners and surface. Why are you not removing the card from the case to scan it... Needs to just be in a penny sleeve and a card saver 1 anyways for grading. Start prepping it and take a picture...

If as nice as you claim then you must use the walk through option!

Ensure to tighten the screws on case as much as possible. That will ensure the grader knows it's been stored properly all these years in an old school case with minimal exposure to air.

Most of all my sincere wish of Good Luck on what seems will be a near certain life changing cash windfall.

Please remove it from the case, and post a picture. We will give you much better and much accurate advice then.

I would start $129 and have them contact you if it is more.

Spoiler alert! It's never as nice as they claim.

As Groo alludes, can anyone find a single post in the history of these message boards where grading has been in line with expectations?

I see same thing at CGC forums. The submitter in every case gets a metaphorical kick to the nads reality slap when their grades pop.

Groo's advice is something the original hit-and-run poster should take.

BTW the original post is quite plausibly a scam to receive PM solicitations , which in every collectible forum is becoming very very common. The misspelling of Michael and Jordon is class scam stuff...

Have you checked the various articles online to determine authenticity and save fees in case it comes back not real?

Post a picture front and back here and get the forums thoughts on it.@ illaudio1411

In Screwdown for 3+ Decades, Likely a counterfeit and a deeply scrutinized card... IMHO send at lowest service level as it's rather plausible it will receive an Altered or be rejected as fake....

I would slowly take it out of the screwdown, and then take pictures in focus and post them.

I recall back in the day folks removing their oh so precious Stadium Club cards from screw-downs to find that parts of cards surface would be pulled off...

Did happen to me as well, it was either my Griffey or Thomas... At the time to a kid it was a bit devastating.

Unfortunately, that card is a fake and not authentic. Don’t waste money submitting.

    Sadly I too concur.

These were heavily faked/counterfeited starting around 1990. Possibly the most counterfeited trading card in history

  • how can you tell

  • i bought it from a sport card shop that i am still friends with the owner when ik bought it. was it know to sport card shops back in 1990 to 1992 about the fakes and what to look for. i bought a lot of cards from this place and i have a hard time believing he sold me a fake. i must have spent back in the 80's and 90's $10s of thousand of dollars with him. i am still im in touch with him. i live in a small town

Among other things, the A in Chicago and B in Bulls that appear over the Bulls horns on the back of the card should not have any blue in the openings.

Edited to add: Also, on the front of the card at the bottom where the blue meets the red, there should be no black line separating those 2 colors. That black line only exists where the blue meets the red at the top of the card. Yours has the black line at the bottom.

This was published in 1993 (and several subsequent updates) and goes into great detail on this card. By 1990, this cards had been counterfeited multiple times and they were rampant in the hobby.

Would be nice to see a clearer scan of the logo and black line border.

In most fakes, I believe, the black line border is not solid but in print dots and the word "premier" is also in print dots rather than solid black.

I recommend taking it out of the screw down and scanning it - then post it here.

I'm willing to bet - based on what I "can" see? This is a fake.

I concur, it's counterfeit. It's likely by 1993 more counterfeits than real existed.

As I recall with pre 1999 PSA slabs fakes sometimes were not detected :(

If you are still in contact with the seller tell him you want the current FMV for his selling you a counterfeit! Or at very least original purchase price accounting for inflation plus interest.

BTW; I've never met a card dealer who would not try to sell a fake if they knew they could get away with it.

The paper stock does not look right. The corners are way too sharp. Even a PSA 10 pack fresh will not have corners that sharp. I cannot tell from the image but the arrow to the right of premier on the front of the card should almost be orange. It's tough to tell from the image provided but it looks yellow. Early fakes of the Jordan card always had a yellow arrow. The image quality also looks poor. It could be the scan as well though.

I'd recommend freeing it from the screw down and taking the best quality images of front and back and post them like others have mentioned.

Also, if you still feel like submitting it I would send it in for the lowest level. If it comes back back then you are out the least amount you could spend to grade it. If it came back legit PSA will upcharge you which would be the best news you could hope for.

Agreed, without the clearer scan it's tough to tell. I really hope the OP did not get burned on this one!
