Tempus Fugit

I managed to get to the bank today & pick up a few rolls of cents thru quarters, in the shattered hope that I'd find some 2023 & 2024 dates we still need.

I started off with pennies, and was taken aback by the fact that the Shield reverse has now been out for a DOZEN years!! Almost the same amount of time that has elapsed sine my detached retina & subsequent job loss/retirement..... Feels like just yesterday!! Wondering what I, "Mr Rip Van Winkle", have been doing with myself all this time!! :o

The percentage of shield reverse to the old pennies is getting very high since the only cents that last in circulation are the pre-'83 coppers and they're getting removed by copper speculators.

The things that made me feel old recently: Realizing that our current $20 bill design came out 20 years ago, and that the earliest State Quarters are now a quarter century old! :o

I started collecting a couple of years after the Lincoln Memorial reverse came out, and they were still scarce in circulation.
