It's a bit of a shame to see such a VERY special piece and OP doesn't even know the weight. I don't understand why having some additional information on the piece is considered a bad thing. It's truly become a get it, slab it, done with it type of world. Even some of the parking lot find posts have more physical specifics than have been provided here.
Wouldn't some specs and additional edge pics be both interesting and important to have for a piece like this? I guess it's just not that important of a coin after all.
Weighing it with a hole isn't a very significant measurement. Specific gravity, maybe. But given the wear and the hole, the weight would not be very useful unless it was ridiculously far off.

I agree, but only with drilled holes I would think. If someone just drove a nail through one there wouldn't be any metal loss unless filed down. This one does appear to be drilled. Either way, there isn't any harm in throwing it on a scale and documenting that information.
Beautiful coin.
If it HAS to have a hole that one is placed perfectly and it appears was drilled with exceedingly care. I love the slight wear around it.
In fact, it give the whole coin a neat presentation and knowing the story, just about wouldn't affect the value too adversely.

Would be cool if you posted the edge images here!
