Two Circulated 1916 Walking Liberty Halves. Do you agree with my GTG?

I am thinking this is a textbook VG08 example:

I am also thinking this is a textbook F12 example:

In your opinion, am I right? Am I close?
If not, why not and what is your GTG then?

Those are two very nice halves. Nice rims great circ look. Somewhat conservative in your grading IMHO; the 16 could be a 15. Nice halves.

    My opinion: G6 & F15.

To me it doesn’t matter what grades they are, I lovvvvve ‘em both. This is what coin collecting is all about.

    Great job!!

Old school G4 and VG8. VF used to require a full bust line.

You're probably correct though using modern grades.

I agree that the reverse of the 16P is close to at F15, but I need to see a little stronger bust on the obverse.

I think you're just about on the money @braddick! 👍

BTW: Could I tell the difference between a VG8 and VG10?......not a chance!

A really interesting and challenging example. Like @OAKSTAR, I'm not sure that I could tell the difference between at VG08 and a VG10, even though I've been putting together a WLH grade set this year! However, I wonder if in both the examples, the coin is considerably more attractive than the technical grade. I feel they are respectively lower than @braddick's VG08 and F12 due to lack of detail remaining on Miss Liberty's dress. Also, in both cases, I think the reverse is somewhat stronger than the obverse; so, if grading has a bias towards the obverse, they may be graded lower than would appear at first glance.

So, my guesses are G06 and VG10. For a VG10 (different date), here is one of my examples:

The definition on the dress is stronger on this example than in either of the 1916s shown in the OP. The reverse on the second 1916 is stronger than on my VG10 example.

I hope we'll get a few more guesses on this one, but @braddick ... please don't leave us in suspense too long!

The coins were and are raw.

@braddick - thanks, very nice eBay finds! It’s still an excellent platform for people with patience.

A VG8 on the 21D pictured seems harsh- unless there is some type of surface issue that cannot be seen from the angle of the photo which really does not seem likely.

Edited to add- the 21D usually has the better strike over the 19D.

@coinkat - the 21D is PCGS VG10; that seems like a fair grade.

(Soon however it will be raw, as I’m putting together an album; I’ll keep the insert to document the PCGS opinion.)
