Can anyone here give 1 valid reason why Stargell beat Schmidt and Mo Vaughn won 1995 AL MVP.

How did Albert Belle lose the AL MVP in 95 ?
How did Schmidt lose to Stargell in 79 ?

Because nobody liked Albert Belle
No idea about Schmidt and Pops though
it was completely a popularity contest in 95.
perhaps team success for Stargell? its really a shame because that would have given Schmidt 4 MVP's.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
Fred Lynn got jobbed of the MVP in 79 as well. all he did was lead the league in BA, OBP, SLG, OPS and WAR
Brett also had a great 79, just not quite as great as Lynn.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
Stargell played in only 126 games.
Winfield would have been a good choice.
In 1995 Edgar Martinez would have been OK, NOT Vaughn though.
Schmidt hit .253, Keith Hernandez hit .344. Even with only 11 homers, Hernandez still had 105 RBI. Keith had the best season of the three, Schmidt the second best.
No clue why Stargell was even in the running. Career achievement award? Had a great postseason, but the votes were already in before that.

Because the Pirates incessantly played and danced to that "We are Family" song every chance they got. I'm almost not joking.
No further comment because it would get into social issues. But I think that did influence the sports writers to vote for Stargell as their way of showing approval for the song.
Stargell could have easily been mvp in 1971 and 1973 and I think paul maul is correct they were kind of giving him a lifetime achievement award.
