Game used - what should they be put in?

I wondered if anyone, through their own personal experience, can tell me what is the best protector to put game-used cards in. I'm debating between a half-inch, non-recessed slab (with the card in a penny sleeve) or the one-screw screwdowns made for game-used cards. I've been told that if they're not taken care of correctly that they will separate, curl up, etc.

Thanks for your help.

The slightly thicker plastic cases usually work, since GU cards are normally thicker than regular cards.
  • For the thicker cards I just put them in a penny sleeve and then into a 10ct plastic snap lock holder.

  • I like to use the thicker top-loaders myself. Not real fancy, but the best way to mail them( inside a bubble mailer of course). I won a $90 Webber Patch on Yahoo and the dumby sent it in a hard plastic little snap case.......AND IN A PAPER ENVELOPE!!!!!imageimage When I got the mail, the envelope was badly damaged, and the plastic case had broke and jacked-up the card REAL bad!!

  • i've had a bad history with snap downs like if you dont center them perfect you,ll have a big line at the top or bottom where the case cut into the card
  • Derrick - Thanks for your input. My wife has a Kobe Nestle Crunch, Slam Dunk insert, CC1, 1996 (die-cut rookie) that sure is a nice card. I don't think it's available though as I think they're pretty scarce. I haven't even seen one of these on E-bay, although I've seen a few of the regular Nestle Crunch Kobe rookie cards there (non-insert).

  • It depends on what game used they are,
    like these-
I would do this- (my opinion)

Thinner game used cards, like inserts, commons, rookies, etc- put in the top loaders (with the sleeve), the ones that holds thicker cards, not sure what */* inch they are

Thicker game used cards that takes a lot to put in a top loader- put in a screw down... but when you trade them, that means if you do it through the mail, it would cost more on shipping of the weight
so if you did that and wanted to save a little change, get the thin holders (not top loaders) and put the card in a sleeve and in it when you send... that should hold up to not get bent or something till it gets to the other person
