Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson lobbies for Chiefs relocation after stadium funding vote failure: 'Welcome home'
The Chiefs were founded as the Dallas Texans in 1959

"Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was born in Texas and played college football at Texas Tech. Chiefs CEO Clark Hunt has a home in Dallas."
Uh oh.
"The Chiefs still have several years remaining on their lease at Arrowhead Stadium."
By that time Andy Reid will be retired. Travis Kelce will be released.
Most importantly, Travis and Taylor will be divorced. 😆
Clark Hunt was mentioned in another thread, that despite his huge wealth, he's a cheap SOB when it comes to providing his players with top notch facilities.
Despite the huge recent success of the Chiefs, the city didn't vote to help pay for stadium renovations? Sounds like Kansas City is cheap as well.
translation:
our team sucks
can we have that good one in Missouri
you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet
It would be hilarious seeing those two greedy super-egos, Jones and Hunt, go at it in Dallas for attention. 🤣
Tell Johnson to MHOFB

Mayflower will help them move. They even work nights.
I gotta agree with ya. Hard to believe a mayor would add fuel to the fire like that. Now if Clark Hunt would have first contacted the mayor about this, it would be a different story.
As much as I don't particularly like the Chiefs team at all, especially with some very pompous players on there. I do like Andy Reid and Pat Mahomes. Chiefs fans certainly wouldn't deserve to have this happen to them over a few dollars.
I think it's likely if not definite that the Chiefs stay in KC. There should be a way to work this out. But I guess in this crazy world we live in today, ya never know for sure?
The Dallas mayor has wanted a 2nd NFL team for a while. It wont happen. The Cowboys will not allow it to happen and the Texans will do everything they can to block it as well. San Antonio which is a big city tried to get a team and were blocked.

I think the voters called their bluff, chiefs don’t have anywhere to go where they wouldn’t be competing in another market except maybe north to Nebraska.
They own a multi state area of the Midwest so they’re not going somewhere with competition for nfl dollars, would be terrible business.
man, i hope this doesnt happen. I cant imagine the Chiefs playing anywhere except from KC.
the Omaha Chiefs just doesn't have that same ring to it.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
Kansas predicted their wayward son would one day carry on, while Dorothy only wants a return to Kansas.
We shall see who wins.
They could move to the Kansas side of KC. That is where the MLS plays.
Taylor Swift may have been reincarnated from Dorothy, minus the class. 😉
Even doing that would cost billions of dollars for a new stadium and their current lease goes through like 2031. They wont be going anywhere not anytime soon anyways. Fans have just started to wise up for why should they have to have a tax increase so a multibillionaire owner of a multibillion dollar franchise in the most profitable league in the world can get stadium upgrades for free. Upgrades that will make the team and owner even more money. 99.99% of fans will never set foot in a luxury box, why would they care if those get upgraded

Reminds me of the happy equine excrement Charles Wang, who at the time was one of 25 wealthiest people on the planet , and certain on his payroll County representatives tried to pull...up to and including holding the vote middle summer when many were away on vacations.
BTW the overwhelming amount of jobs at a sports venue are seasonal and minimum wage. The type of jobs that never have a shortage of opening to begin with
Never underestimate the greed of a billionaire.
I dont blame them for trying, but it is nice to see common sense win in this situation. I dont believe it was the situation here but another thing that never really gets mentioned is that often times either the owner and/or the team have ownership stakes in these stadiums. Even though the As are leaving Oakland the team still has a 50 percent ownership stake in the stadium that they refused to invest in unless tax payers did it.
I love sports as much as the next person, but I'm already paying 40 dollars for parking and 12 or so dollars for a beer, They can fund their own upgrades. Its really not that easy for them to move teams as they want people to believe either

Yep...Jerry Jones is the one who blocked San Antonio from getting the team, as he didn't want the added in-state competition.
If Jerry wouldn't let San Antonio (270 miles away) get a team, you can be damn-well-sure he won't let another team come to the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Steve
Jerry would get rid of Houston and New Orleans too if he had his way. Its kind of a shame since San Antonio and Oklahoma City would be good potential markets but it seems like other than basketball the Cowboys/Rangers/Texans/Astros have been successful in shutting down talks for both of those cities in the NFL and MLB.
MLB wants to add at least 2 teams once the As and Rays situations are solved and the NFL is looking to add some teams in the coming years as well. The NFL just seems like they cant decide if they want them to be domestic teams or an international team like England or Spain and are taking their time testing games overseas. I would guess the current owners would prefer overseas since that leaves their market alone and opens new ones, but the players would certainly prefer domestic

Nebraska ?
that's somewhere close to KC in nebraska?
