Let’s see em’!
I had my eye on several lots, but didn’t end up winning any. Hopefully some of you did better!

I’m not sure if this Capped Bust Dime was in that sale, but I bought this in Heritage’s auction last Friday, March 29th. CAC pop = 4, only 4 CAC finer. Not in an OGH, but in an old holder.

1822/1 O-102 NGC AU53. The catalog photo is the plate of this same coin in the 2002 Queller sale. Was super pumped to land it.

cool coin, I looked up the New Netherlands sale on NNP...

The edge of the coin is plated on page 3 and written up on page 48. Great provenance.
Thank you! I’ve been wondering about that. Here’s the photos.

@Pnies20. That is a great coin with a great provenance. I don't know what it is about seeing a coin both in print and in person that is so cool but I hope you don't mind a story from my youth.
I was a college kid in the late 1970's. I purchased a Bust Half Dollar (My only one)and brought it to a small coin club we had for several months to show around. One day a fellow collector named kirk comes up to me and asks to see my half. Then he takes out a copy of a magazine called "Coin Prices". (It was considered the go to reference out here in fly over country at the time). Within minutes half a dozen people gathered round and of all things my coin was an exact match for the coin they used to head up that particular price list. Can't remember the details but there were strike, wear, color and specific nicks and scratches that were a perfect match. I am ashamed to say that kirk knew just what I had paid and offered me double on the spot. At the time the money was too tempting and 10 seconds after the exchange I regretted it but it was a done deal. Enjoy your purchase. James

Great story thank you!

I really like that one! I still need a 22-102, that one didn’t for in the coin budget at the moment haha.
I did win one at HA’s auction on the 2nd, an unattributed 1828 O.123a. Even though it a humble “VF details” I was still excited.
@KensCoins2287 Oh man I missed that one! I love that marriage. You have had a couple cherrypicks with the 123 die marriage at this point!
I purchased this 1818 O-115 R-5 early die state. Just the start of the obverse crack by the date. Rubber band mark is a bummer but I can personally look past it once it is cracked and enjoyed raw.

@jacrispies
Hey nice pick! The 18-115 is a fun variety too!
Here’s my duplicate 1822/1 O-102a R5? 👀

I bought this one, ex Jon Lusk collection. It’s a 1818 B7 remarriage, which I believe is the only remarriage for the large size bust quarters.
@winesteven
Nice coin! I went Baltimore with that coin on my list to see, and thought it looked great in hand!
You got it at a good price!p, too!

Coin needs acetone bath.
@PillarDollarCollector I agree, there looks to be some PVC on the reverse. Should come off with ease. None of the black crust will come off with acetone though.

Thanks. It arrived today, and it does indeed look great.
As I’m sure you know, many collectors avoid coins with this type of eye appeal, as it’s very light with little toning, and highly lustrous. Sure, it’s very likely that at some point it’s been dipped, but apparently it was done gently enough to still merit a CAC sticker! Some collectors limit themselves to only having toned coins, since that demonstrates they are “original”. And that's OK.

Not shabby. Rubber band mark is significant but a crusty circulated coin regardless. Looks good raw, and it was a good price.
