    The mintage was 2,665,071,400 and about 40 million exist in Uncirculated condition. These also looked polished. They are spenders, nothing more.

    @Jaylin - I love that you have a sense of humor. It looks like those are set in a lucite plastic bar. They were popular as a novelty paperweight back in the day but like Steve mentioned... they are polished and not worth too much other than the neat factor. I have a couple square lucite blocks with similar coins trapped inside.

    It looks like they are embedded in lucite or acrylic and that they form the base of a letter opener made in the 1970s. This type of thing was wildly popular in the 1960s-1970s and today they are novelties some folks like.
