Tony Gwynn 1983 Topps

It is my understanding during the FBI Operation Bullpen back in the late 1990s they discovered counterfeit Tony Gwynn 1983 Topps cards that were indistinguishable from the authentic ones.

I have a PSA 10 that looks perfect. A little too perfect.

I wonder if anyone has any information about the counterfeit ones.

I thought that was related to forged signatures.

But I never heard about fake cards that were hard to detect for grading. That’s really interesting. Google yields nothing so also curious.

That was for fake signatures if I'm not mistaken. I've never heard anything about 1983 Topps Gwynn's being faked. If they could do that back then, they surely could do it today with the technology now. Saying that, I haven't heard of it.
