Tons of my cards being damaged at PSA. Anyone else

It used to happen once in a blue moon, now it’s out of hand. I send In 200-300 a month since forever. So far this month alone I’ve gotten back around 225 cards. 15 with damage. That makes 29 so far this year. 3 came back with creases. 1 with a smashed corner and the other 25 with the same exact issue. 1 or 2 fingernail indentations. Almost looks like it was done on purpose. Thankfully they do the before scans now and I’ve had most of the issues resolved. It is a huge pain in the ass. They are mostly 2000 to present.
The reason I’m finally posting about it is I just got an order back where the damage was to some big cards and I’m really pissed off. It’s really sucking the fun out of this. Thoughts or anyone else experiencing the same issues?

So far SGC, no issues. it reminds me of PSA in 2012-13 ERA. Good grades, fast, good service.

I was shocked to see my 74 T Stamps Al Oliver POP as a PSA5 when I thought it had a shot at a PSA10.
Well, I just got the card back in hand.
There's a very obvious wrinkle in the middle of the stamp, so yeah, PSA5.
Except that, there was no wrinkle when it left my hands, otherwise I wouldn't have sent it in.

That happened to me with a great eight Jordan card. I checked it really closely and thought it was at least a 9, came back a 5 with a big dent in the left border that wasn't there when I scanned it before sending it. That was my last sub to PSA

Not damage related, but I just submitted over 100 1993-1996 Finest Basketball refractors. I looked at all card corners under a loupe and the surfaces at multiple angles before sending them in. I was absolutely shocked by the egregious grades. 7s across the board with a handful of 8s and 9s. Disgusting.

  • Kinda sucks your cards sucked.

That's a tough break on the Oliver,I've been there. Stamps & stickers, especially Panini, are brutal when trying to get them back without creasing. You can do everything you can to make it easy for the grader to remove it from the penny sleeve but that doesn't always work.
They likely get handled at least 2-3x outside of the card saver and all it takes is the tiniest bit of thumb/finger pressure when they hold it and that crease knocks your grade in half.

Wonder if the high end Mantles,Aarons,Ruth's are handled in the same way as 2020 Heritage baseball.

I did have a few chrome cards come back with multiple fingerprints. Figured it happened during encapsulation. Someone looks like they were using lotion or something on their hands. There was a Griffey Jr that had a damaged corner but I chalked it up as something I could have missed as it was a factory set one, or I thought it was.

  • I submitted a card to PSA for the first time ever. They updated my order to include the before grading pictures and it looks scratched badly. The scratches weren’t there when I sent it to them. I’m hoping the pic just has some sort of scratched plastic over the card and they didn’t actually scratch my card.

The "before" pictures are taken with the card still in the penny sleeve and card saver you sent them in.
The scratches are likely and hopefully from the sleeves.

Wow. That sucks. So far so good for me, but I guess it happens to all of them. At least they asked up for some pics.

^---This, my cards I sent in from the 80s had been in semi-rigids over a decade and I'd go through them from time to time. Many of the holders had scratches. The PSA pre-grade scans are them still in the holders.
