I was going to say that doesn't look quite right.
Also no PCGS in the bottom right corner?
Did you have it verified someplace where they have a good machine?

Well I paid my daughter’s college tuition, room & board (BS to PhD degrees & same for pharmacy school) by mostly buying & selling “stuff” on CL.

Now she’s a licensed pharmacist working for a major retail pharmacy.

I'm sure you did. Easy to sell on Craigslist. You can even sell fakes. 😀

I've bought and sold plenty on CL. That really doesn't have much to do with the fake gold you bought. I always do my research before buying anything off CL also. I would bet this coin only has about .75c of gold plating.

And that is why most of us do not buy coins on CL. ;)

price of gold is now near $2200/oz

you should be able to sell that for $2K

Upon what do you base that? It’s unlikely that the gold content is anywhere near that substantial.

To give credit where credit is due ( transparency) I bought “tons” of junk silver from CU members at 10-12x, and sold them for 18-20x face. I even got 25x to small buyers.

So timing the market? Or ripping people off?

Professional bullion dealers do neither. Both generally end very poorly.

@mikee999 were you a member under a different name in the past? You said you purchased silver at 10 x 12x from CU members, but you’ve been here less than a year. Don’t know of anyone here selling that cheap within the past 10 months.

Ripping long time CU members, impossible. To be honest I would’ve love to .Think back to 2010-2012, what were junk silver selling for 10-12, maybe 13x?

It appears you’ve done well overall in your CL endeavors in spite of this setback (tuition).

I’ve purchased two cars off Craigslist and both transactions went great. Still have both cars (though I’d love to upgrade one or both). It’s been 11 and 9 years since those purchases. Probably my last Craigslist buys. No sells.
Never looked at coins on there that I can remember. Certainly wouldn’t be buying gold I wasn’t sure of.

Bought this on CL a few years ago for the princely sum of $60. Sometimes there are deals to be had.

That my friend is the coooooolest. I’ve never come tiniest close to buying that much gold in one shot in all my years buying from CL.

    Great job dude!

Was the half eagle part of the deal? If so, you made a great purchase.

Yes, it was. Seller wanted to meet in a public place which was fine by me because I was a bit leery it may be a bait and switch or something worse.
