I must admit, I bought the slab, not the coin.

My first thought was either Competitive Gymnastics or Ice Figure Skating has made an impression on coin grading... Or was it just Rodney Dangerfield doing the Triple Lindy? I prefer the Mellon angle...

Watch out, it appears Elon Musk labeled that as his own, he might sue you.

Like you’re reading my mind. I kinda want one too. Haven’t seen any at a local show yet. Darn sure not paying the prices I’ve been seeing online. I’m very split on this concept. Most of me is old enough, and been involved long enough, to desire a stay with tradition. About 25% of me thinks it makes sense as nearly every other collectible is graded on a 10 point scale. Might pull in more of the next generation. I do give N credit for trying.

Having fun while switching things up and focusing on a next level PCGS slabbed 1950+ type set, while still looking for great examples for the 7070.

I figured for the price of a sub I could afford to buy one.

That is NOT a Vault Box coin. It would say "Vault Box" on it.

    Hi Don,

Yep, Barr. I paid up a little to get the 10 grade but still very reasonable!

I decided to go the 9.9 this time. Maybe 10 in the future. I really like the design of the one you bought.

The holder is now nearly the ...entirety... of coin collecting.
The more slabs, ..the more options, ..the more differentiating. :s

No one can say what would happen if some smart cookie added an ULTRA PICKY slab to the marketplace.
To think otherwise is thinking that ... perfection .... is absolute and achievable.
Our hobby is/was (?) collecting coins we wanted to own.
......................That seems a far distance from where we are today.

There are, of course, exceptions to this assessment of any particular collector but they are being eclipsed by the quest for perfection in grading. :|

Great post but don't forget the stickers!!! Without the stickers, how will we ever know which slabs to buy? ;)
