The bidding is done on the breakup of my sold 1969 set. All the lots went to 2 bidders. I won back 5 lots, all PSA 8's including all the mid series cards and the Yankees and Mets cards. Average price of $22.50 ea. The rest of the lots went to another bidder who paid good money for them. I know I was second bidder on most if not all the lots. The cards went close to where the should be for 9's. The total for all the auctions was $10155.00 for 407 cards. With what wasnt put on auction which was around 100 cards. I believe the seller will at least break even if not make a few $'s.

The seller may make a few bucks but subtracting the auction fees, they will likely break even or lose money. If they would have sold the cards individually, I would have logged more bids. Many of the lots contained 1 or 2 cards I needed and therefore I did not bid. Although it takes alot more work to set up 400 auctions, it would have maximized their profits. Knowing Mintexpress, they probably bought the set for the PSA 9 stars. They will probably feature an auction of several 9's from various years. The 1969s should give them good exposure.
By the way, let me know if there are any cards in the lots you won that you plan to flip. I may very well need a few of them.

You didnt offend me at all. I placed bids that I thought were worthy of the cards in the set. I know the set very well as you may know. I dont know if you remember me from the Cleveland Convention last year. We talked about White Letters. I'll stop by and see you in Chicago this year. I really thought the 9's were going to go real cheap. You knew what they were worth. In fact the only reason I bid was one of my horses won a race the night before so I had a nice $7500 purse check coming. I should be apologizing to you for making you spend so much.
I sold around 25 cards from the second set to all of the 69ers above me now except Dan. I just logged in the rest and the second set sits at 42%. Email me your phone # and we'll talk about the cards I have that you might need. rjc012661@aol.com. Thats if your interested. LMK Welcome to the 69ers.
I now have 2 ea of the Roy White and the F. Peterson.

Bob,
It sounds like if you didn't bid on these auctions for cards you just sold, that the MintXpress would have ended up losing a significant amount on the flip. I wouldn't want the seller to lose a lot of money, because then it would put the damper on future PSA set purchases. It makes me think that since you didn't bid on your own set at Superior, that you got a pretty good price for them.
Well yes and no. I think its pretty evident that you need to break these sets up in pieces. I was fortunate to get the $19000. The set was definately worth it, BUT you need to have someone with the cash to pay for it. If you dont then bang you can get hurt really bad.
Yes if I didnt bid, MINTXPRESS would of probrably not done well on the flip. That goes for Twinron too, if he didnt bid I would of got them back at a good price although stump17 bid well on the 8's.
The cards are worth what there worth. I wasnt going to let anyone get them unless they paid fair price for them. BUT if Almahurst Looker didnt win by 5 lengths on Sat I might not of bid as high as I did. ( A shameless plug for my horse who has now won 6 of his last 8.)(Unfortunatley I purchased him after he won 5 of 6)
Ron, with what you have now you have got to have 50%+. That will but you in the TOP 5 and boot me down to 6th.
