Pro football and basketball have referees. Not sure about hockey. They will surely need chest protectors π.

Yes
Unless they go to automatic calls for balls/strikes at home plate. What could possibly be worse than Angel Hernandez?

It would be difficult to know what the call is when she keeps changing her mind.

Yes I would say so
No reason why not if they are competent at the job.
Eric Gregg.
Theres already a female that worked some spring training games this year and have and are ones in the minors so it will happen. MLB umpires basically have jobs for life which is why we are stuck with Angel Hernandez and had to wait to Joe West to retire to get rid of him so who knows when. They could push her up or just rework things to create an opening if they want.
Robotic strike zone is coming too though and home plate umpires are going to just be out there for no reason really. Once that does happen the zone will greatly expand as all a ball has to do is clip the zone going over the plate, but its the umpires own fault for protecting so many awful ones for years

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
i dont see why they shouldnt have female umps

I'd want to be the pitcher when she turns around and faces the grandstand and bends over to sweep off home plate.
Unless of course it's Big Bertha.
I would have thought they already would have had one. MLB umpires are mostly stationary whereas NBA, NFL and NHL they would be constantly moving.
Alexa will be calling balls and strikes before you know it
