Late Die State Bust Quarters - A Photographic Census of 1825 B-2 & B-3

Well, it’s been many years, but I’ve decided to dust off my computer and extract some bust quarter images. Ted McAuley and I have been thinking of putting together a photographic census booklet & possibly a PDF version of 1825 B-2 & B-3 large size quarters that fall into the LDS category. You may or man not be surprised of how many images I have accumulated to date.
If anyone wants to have their name (or, I can list “private collector”) & image included send me a message or just include it in this thread. If you want to include a provenance that is also beneficial.
I’ll start this project for now, maybe I will switch it up and do a 1828 B-3, or 1796 B-1 next or? I pretty much have 90% + images sitting around.
Let’s see how this goes.
Persuing choice countermarked coinage on 2 reales.

This is a great idea! And nice to see @1Bustcollector back at it again.
What is the highest grade LDS b2 and b3 you’ve seen so far?
Although still a work in progress, as of current, the two highest ranking examples have not changed and our book is still relevant (naturally, so much more has changed on both die marriages in between). The highest B-2 is still the Clark-Shenkel/Matthews PCGS-58. I need to check on the current grading on the Clark-Brown-Speir-Miles-DuPont B-3 to see if it has been recently graded(?). Between that one and the Tompkins-Clark-Stack’s-Jade Rare Coin (pictured on page 197) example it will be a toss up.

Gorgeous example
Are you looking for only the latest die states or all the stages.
On this particular project I am focusing towards the “later stages” (generally a retained cud & later) where a die crack begins from one area of the rim, extends through the devices/lettering and completes on another rim endpoint - I want to separate these from the “early” and “intermediate” stages for now.
Please send along date acquired along with your desired name you want in print.

I only have a b-2 with the retained cud that I got from rich Ulrich at the 2021 ANA It's only a good details coin. He said it was the plate coin in Rea's book. Is this something you would want a picture of ? Thanks Dave
Bustquarterhound,
Rich Uhrich has collected and sold an abundance of really cool 1825 B-2 & B-3 quarters in “every stage listed” (early - late) over the decades. Send me what you have and we will review each example for this particular LDS defined project (see above definition). Either way I’ll have your information on “date of purchase” for a particular example…..it’s been many years, sometimes these move to a new collector and to say the least we can update our records.

Thank you for the compliment, 1Bustcollector! I can't recall how many of these 1825 B-2 and B-3 quarters I've sold, but it is as you stated, a large number. Very cool varieties with a lot of die states!

You’re welcome Rich! Collectors abroad certainly appreciated the value you added to the community.

Sorry the pics aren't too good. I'm wondering ir we ever crossed paths. We were good friends with Jules and Russ met Dave and John a few times.
That one brings back good memories. It was, and still is rare for its die state/stage. Is it possible you can provide the complete PCGS number? Maybe they photographed it? If not, I do have an old, but good pic in my records.
Although I never me Jules in person, I used to talk with Jules many times on the phone about bust quarters and other bust material. We’d send photographs in the mail and by FAX. I met Russ quite a few times, visited his house with Brenda along with John McCloskey & Norma a couple times at their place then many shows. Dave was another great icon, very nice, easy to talk, would be so helpful. Miss these guys.
Its possible we met at the shows?

I'm glad they had it pictured. We lost a lot of knowledge when we lost those guys.
There's a b-2 retained cud on ebay
Needing help: If anyone is aware of this example please let me know the past/current owner. It is an unknown.

Still have work to do but making great progress. The images and layouts are close. The editing and adjusting will follow. I hope I can manage to correctly list everyone’s info….

Very nice presentation, 1Bustcollector!
Here is my example PCGS VG10
Thank you “Manlye1”
I am aware of this example, it is in the census. The pictures turned out well, naturally. Please send me a PM and let me know if you want your name/or PCSG membership name listed. We can also verify purchase date what I currently have. Many thanks for submitting your example! Progress is going very well….I am awaiting from other collectors to make sure we get as much as we can.
