I might be in for a $20 high relief 1oz coin - if that's what's being issued. The press release isn't clear about what's what.
"According to Mint spokesman Brent Thacker, the tenth-ounce gold coins for each of the five Best of the Mint for 2026 coins will be denominated as ONE DIME; the quarter-ounce as QUARTER DOLLAR; the half-ounce as HALF DOLLAR; the half-ounce as ONE DOLLAR; and the 1-ounce as TWENTY DOLLARS."
Seems odd to me that these were what folks voted for. 4 of the 5 have already been done previously.
Disappointing. Flowing hair, birch cent, Liberty Cap…. This had so much potential.
4 denominations and could easily assume which correspond to selections. Essentially 2016 centennial gold series and 2009 UHR reissued assuming 1804 Bust not selected.
➤ Original, Class I, 1804 Draped Bust dollar.
➤ 1907 Saint-Gaudens, Roman Numerals (MCMVII), High Relief gold $20 double eagle.
➤ 1916 Winged Liberty Head dime.
➤ 1916 Standing Liberty quarter dollar.
➤ 1916 Walking Liberty half dollar.
Any thoughts if the 1907 Saint-Gaudens, Roman Numerals (MCMVII), High Relief gold $20 double eagle will be a similar version of the 2009 UHR?
There are articles regarding the 1804 Bust to be on 1/2 oz gold and later dated articles that say 1 oz of gold.
Anyone have evidence of the weight to be used for the Bust?
