1785 Bar Copper?

I found this Coin with my metal detector. Just sent to PCGS. Anyone have any thoughts? Found at very old site in Connecticut.

Did you happen to weigh it before you sent it in?

Good luck! If deemed genuine that's a huge find!

I've never had the opportunity to examine a real one in hand, but it's on my bucket list. Given you've found other old, genuine coins on the lot, this could be the real deal. The "USA" is correct, appears genuine. My only concern is that it looks somewhat thin. I always expected the bar cent to be thicker.
There is a good diagnostic on the reverse, where one of the bars has a little flare at the end. I wish you had taken good photos before sending in for authentication.
Good luck and update us when you get results.

I have always dreamed about digging up a classic old u.s. coin, so I am excited for the o.p.
Switching subject matters, I have never dug (pun intended) the design on the reverse , just a bunch of bars, pretty disappointing.

Did you get them to clean it for you before slabbing?

Go back and look for the Higley or Granby copper that you missed there.

Thirteen bars, one for each of the original colonies. These were supposedly struck in London after the War and sent over to America, where they circulated alongside other coppers. A simple, beautiful design in my opinion. The obverse, of course, was inspired by the Continental Army button.
