Pleasant surprise at one of my bank visits!

Hi guys,
Before heading to work, I thought I'd stop at a bank I visit occasionally. This bank always limits me with rolls and $ straps. Today however, when I asked if they had any Half Dollars? She replied with, " YES! we still have that WHOLE BOX!"
What???
They never give me more than 3 or 4 rolls!
So naturally I said, I'll take the box.
Than, at her tray were customer wrapped cents. 40 rolls. I normally shy away from customer wrapped. But something told me to buy them. So I took only 20. Went to my car and opened up a couple of rolls. ALL pre- 2010. No shield cents! I went back to buy the other 20 rolls.I was never expecting to pick all this up going at this particular bank.
Destiny???
We shall see? 👀

Most banks will be happy to order you as may $500 half dollar boxes as you would like. I believe the average about 1 40% silver per box. Yes occasionally there more but often zero.

Why would a bank in the Chicago area stock that many half dollars? Are they actually circulating in the Chicago area? I don't think I have seen a half dollar used in an actual transaction in the past 30 or more years here in the Detroit area.

    All glory is fleeting.

I think half dollars only "circulate" among CRHers. Rolls and boxes ordered and then loose coins dumped.

I'm in the area. I actually use them on occasion. Fun to look at reactions... especially on young cashiers.

Why would banks be happy to lose as much money as you want them to...?
