Former Pittsburgh Pirates catcher Ed Ott died yesterday at the age of 72. Ott, who played for the Pirates almost his whole career except for his last when he was a member of the California Angels in 1981. He was a key member on the 1979 World Champion we are family Pittsburgh Pirates, where he batted .333 during the series against the Orioles. He had possibly the shortest name in sports history.

RIP, but I’ve always hated him for ending Felix Millan’s career.
