Oops I made a mistake...

In the course of bidding at Stacks today there were many PCGS Cap & Rays 8 reales for auction and I mistakenly bought this one:

Not realizing I already had this one:

I manage money. I earn money. I save money .
I give away money. I collect money.

Two very different varieties there, Dan :) And both very attractive, i might add. The one you bought today is a 1863/4 and the one you already had is a 1863/59.

There's an MS64 example of the 63/4 in the registry, but it's not assigned to anyone's set. (https://www.pcgs.com/cert/43821681)

For the uneducated not familiar with this issue, how was there a 3/4 overdate?!
(That seems like the bigger mistake! Interesting to know how it came about, if there is any history)

Hard to say, but it almost looks like a different die for a 63/59 variety.
