How would you grade these coins?

I can’t tell from the pictures but I would assume most of the coins are overgraded and many would not straight grade. I wouldn’t pay strong money for anything. You have two hours to lot view before the auction begins. Lot viewing will probably be hectic and the lighting will not be ideal and the coins will be in flips so it’s going to be very difficult to evaluate the coins.

Grading from photos is always difficult and these photos are subpar.
Given that, they do look like nice coins.

From photos it appears both coins cheeks are heavily scratched/scarred. Do not think grade of 65 possible, then just my opinion.

How come when another member does this, people act like he's committed a crime?

That’s a good question and something to think about.
I might venture to guess that in this case, the OP, if bidding on these coins, by sharing the info here, could be setting themself up for MORE competition and higher prices.
If it was the seller posting, it would be viewed as self promotion, and frowned on.

There are so many coins in this auction that I don’t think it’s going to rock the boat much.
But you do bring up a point worth considering.

I'm thinking of one particular person who was crucified a week or so ago for asking about an ebay coin that was up for auction. I'm not saying that I have a problem with it. It's a public auction. But it should be either okay for anyone or verboten for everyone. It shouldn't matter who is doing the posting.

I am not bidding in this auction nor do I have any interest, just pointing out they run this. Btw, if you do a search on "charter oak auctions" it does turn up a history.

I'm not sure the point is whether you have any interest.

As I said, I don't really care other than another member was roundly criticized for asking about the grade of a live auction.
