That Bevaqua card was made when times were much simpler.

Bubble Yum was my favorite, occasionally I'd go with Bubbalicious

I wouldn't be posting that if I were you, it's against forum rules, gotta stick to sports. This has been a public service announcement from the forum outlaw.

    But then this guy…………

    🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Started marketing this stuff……… in 1975

    🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

and athletes started mixing the gum with the tobacco.

I tried that skoal once. Accidentally swallowed it. Never again.

Anyone else ever try it ?

Didn’t Tony Gwynn die from it ?

  • stevekstevek Posts: 28,871 ✭✭✭✭✭

Topps bubble gum, in my opinion, beat them all.

Not the horse leather crap that Topps put in the wax packs. But the little bubble gums sold for one cent which also contained a Bazooka Joe cartoon. The cartoon always sucked, but the gum was great!

Tried it once in college, can't recall the brand. Yea it gave me a little buzz, but I didn't see the value in it for that little buzz. Never did it again. I always thought a cold beer was much better. 🍺

I used to dip in high school playing baseball, I used Hawken wintergreen, and after practice one afternoon I saw a girl I was cuckoo over cocoa puffs for and tried to hide the dip in the back corner of my mouth so she wouldn't see it, needless to say I accidentally swallowed some of it and almost choked myself out from it. Needless to say, I never again dipped after that.

Miller Lite had great commercials but the beer is gross. I can't stand it.

Lots of guys will wrap bubble gum around leaf chew, I never liked doing that.

I'm a Grizzly wintergreen guy when I dip but it's on a rare occasion. I used to.when I played Softball but it wasn't great to run and dive for balls when you got a mouth full of tobacco juice

I was riding my bike. First time trying the snuff. Swallowed it and got a huge head rush. Divine intervention to say stay far away from it.

In middle school they showed us a psa about the consequences of smoking, they showed a pic of a clean healty lung vs a lung of a smoker. The smoker lung looked like an ac filter that hadn't been replaced in years! I made my decision there that I didn't want mine being like that and have never smoked to this day!

The other pic is a bit too easy, although there are around four who I don't recognize.

The guy up front that many may not recognize is author Mickey Spillane.

Always made me laugh when somebody is wolfing down a large cheesesteak with all the fixins, french fries, etc, while drinking a lite beer. As if the lite beer is going to do much good as far as the calorie intake. 😆

I enjoyed Marlboro and Newport in the 6th grade and I never knew it was bad for you circa 1970.

Not sure why I quit but glad I did.

Marijuana lasted a little longer. Ages 13-20.

Lots of ball players smoked and Earl Weaver chain smoked in the dugout.

I’m not sure if people knew the risks back then. Doctors didn’t have X-ray machines for lungs until 1950ish I believe.

I really don't know the history of smoking and health awareness. Although Honus Wagner cancelled his T206 card in 1909 because he didn't want to be associated with tobacco. So something negative must have been known about tobacco back then.

#LetsGoSwitzerlandThe Man Who Does Not Read Has No Advantage Over the Man Who Cannot Read. The biggest obstacle to progress is a habit of “buying what we want and begging for what we need.”You get the Freedom you fight for and get the Oppression you deserve.
