Which players have the biggest say in the outcome of a game ?

Is a punter who six times a game pins a team deep more important then a linebacker who makes twelve tackles a game.

Is a right fielder who can throw out base runners more important then a CF who is too deep to ever try.

We have many nicknames for great defensive lines.

Do we have any for great offensive lines too ?

You can have those but if your skill position players are bad then it’s like having a great jockey with a fat horse.🤷‍♂️

1st base, they touch the ball more than anyone besides the pitcher and catcher. A bad one increases your infielders errors and a good one reduces them

I don’t know about edge rusher. They used to be called defensive ends and their job was to funnel the runner or QB to the inside, the cardinal rule was don’t let anyone get to the outside.
An edge rusher, it’s easy to expose their aggressiveness and use it against them. Like the Chiefs did to Bosa in the SB. Classic example, last play of the game, Bosa is in the backfield quick as a whip making it very easy for Mahomes to move outside right and make an easy pass to Hardman for the game. KC played him like a drum. Not the only time either. If those ultra aggressive edge guys would make an effort to contain plays they would have a lot more success.

Well against a mobile QB what your saying makes sense, but most QB's are not as great with pocket presence like Patty is

Edge rushers can be either lineman or linebackers, its different than just a defensive end. Todays NFL with the athleticism of pass catchers and the rules guys can only be covered for 4 or 5 seconds max and often more like 3. The value of the EDGE is getting pressure on the QB causing them to make bad decisions or turning the play into a fire drill even if they dont get the sack.

The best coverage you can have is disrupting the QB

This, I cant agree more about the importance of having a great defensive1b on a team. I think they are criminally undervalued.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
